Supernatural Reaction 14x01

Happy SPN Monday folks!

We have started a brand new season & what an episode to begin with!

Thank you all so so much for joining me through season 13 & I truly hope you'll enjoy season 14 just as much :)

Have a lovely week everyone!

Much love

Dakara x

Rating - 9/10 - Sam is a new man and I am here for it! He is going through it right now but wow, he's handling things so well. Loved the scenes with Jack too! He's such a cutie & has so much learn but he's gonna smash it I just know it! Michael is clearly on one & taking Dean for a ride... Not happy about it! He's building an army, question mark. I'm nervous!

I’m sorry what?!

Why can’t you do better than this? We are giving you money for nothing

So many stupid things in this episode, cas rant: how the hell did cas not know these people were demons?! Powerful or not, angels can see true forms, he can see angels, demons & reapers, even in this episode sister jo was able to see michael's true form so they didn't really forget that, i hate that dabb wrote that "bait is what cas is for" & had him on the floor getting beaten by punch of demons wtf, cas can take on angels but gets beaten by demons 🤬, the whole nick thing is so stupid, how did he survive lucifer getting stabbed by the archangel knife, it's so stupid, idc about him at all, at least we got leader sam my beloved 😍 rescuing cas, telling demons how it will be, there won't be a king of hell 😍, silver lining

It’s great to see that you’re here and enjoying, no matter when you joined! It does feel strange how long I’ve been doing this and also how quickly time has gone too because I’ve been enjoying it so much haha. Thanks so much for supporting my content Luis! Honestly means a lot and it truly helps to keep the videos coming! I’m genuinely nervous about finishing Supernatural, I’m so connected to the show and I don’t know if I’ll get this same feeling with other shows. Hey, I appreciate you sharing haha. Thanks for commenting and thanks for stopping by some of my live streams too. The look was fire 🔥 totally agree. You and me both! Sam is incredible I feel for Jack too, he’s so precious. What do you mean they ship destiel lol

DakaraJayne

thanks for sharing this bts info :) bless them. It must be a real worry with such a passionate and outspoken fan base. Glad it all worked out well though. I thought she was great!

Even tho S14 is one of my faves the premiere was okay. Dean’s acting is incredible as always. Seeing Sam being so sad and tired is just😣 Love me some Jack💚 I like his hair too D...don’t touch it he’s mine!!!👀 Kip...was so annoying glad they killed him off in the 1st ep. I feel so bad for Jack I just wanna hug him...

Something I love is that throughout the episode, Sam was telling Mary that he's fine. He's always telling people that he's fine and not admitting when he's just not doing great. (He has a few times with Dean, but not often...) But then at the end of the episode, he tells Cas that he's not doing great. He admits that he's struggling. I just feel like that really shows how much Cas means to the boys, that he's able to tell him that he's not okay. Everyone else gets "I'm fine" or "I'm okay", but Cas got "I've been better" It just shows that Cas is family and that he's one of the people Sam trusts most. Trusts enough to tell the truth about how he's doing... I just love it! I find it so messed up that it's Sam who's checking in on Nick and not someone else. All the trauma that must bring up for him, it's so not fair... :( Demons being scared of Sam is the best thing ever. When that scene first aired, there were theories going around that he'd maybe take up the throne of Hell (the way he said that any new king would have to go through him, it just feels kinda like saying that he's the King...) but we mostly knew it wasn't gonna happen (even though a lot of us wished for it...) But there are fanfics about it! Haha

You should check out Jensen & Daneel's movie 'Ten Inch Hero'. They knew each other & were friends, but started dating during the filming of this. It's a cute RomCom, and every actor does a bang up job.

Yeah, re Nick, for those who don't know that's all Eugenie (Robert Singer's wife). Mark P confirmed she is the one who wanted Lucifer redeemed in S13 via his son's, Jack, storyline, but was shot down by others. She can't have Lucifer this season, so, Nick is the next best thing for her. *sigh* And such a wishy-washy explanation of how he can survive.

Sam biting his nails in the car with Mary... The way he did in season 1 when he was trying to save Dean dying from a weak heart. We don't see that side of him often, but I like that he is showing nervousness when Dean is in a really dangerous situation. Sam has now embrace a leadership role (we could see glimpses of it before, but now we see it in its glory) probably in part because his brother is not around. I think Sam is doing with leadership what Dean is doing with intellect: not putting it forward when the other is there, as if they have an unspoken agreement not to play in each other "field of expertise" (even if they both have all qualities in spade).

Pretty excited for you to see this season. I have to say as much as I love dean I am a Sam girl and I really appreciated them putting Sam in the spotlight this episode as the writers seem to favor dean storyline wise. I loved seeing the demons just leave when Sam said they had to go through him, Sam's such a legend lol. Jack made me so sad this ep, you could see him struggle with feeling useless and having to learn how to fight as a human but i love the scene with him and cas, and the scene with him and Sam in the beginning. They are his family. Its crazy how much I grew to love jack just after one season. We didn't get a lot of Michael this episode but it seems he's up to something of course lol. I don't get why it seems cas powers aren't there? Or they he's out of juice or something, I just think the writers know what they were doing with that lol. Also a small scene but I really enjoyed the scene between cas and Sam where they just sat down and asked each other if they were ok. The writers seem to forget Sam and cas are family too. Cant wait to get deeper into the season!

Iknow exactly what you are trying to say about the boys, their roles and their relationship. I always thought of Dean as the leader of Team Free Will. And that Sam followed Dean because he was older and he trusted him and Dean is just a natural leader. But Sam is a leader too and when Dean was in trouble this time Sam is older and more experienced and ready to lead everyone and to find Dean. I do also like seeing this growth in Sam and giving him a chance to shine. So much is going on with Dean and with Jack and all these new hunters and Sam is really killing it. I loved this premier and this is a great season to me, one of my favorites.

I forgot to talk about Michael!Dean! It’s interesting to me how Jensen chose to play Michael. In this episode I see the performance as closer to Matt Cohen’s Michael from season five than it is to Christian Keyes’ Michael from the apocalypse world. Or maybe somewhere in the middle. I see the more controlled, stoic Matt Cohen style here, versus Christian Keyes whose Michael had a little more fire and facial expressions. This Michael is smug as hell. It’s nice you mentioned that Jensen‘s Arabic sounded believable. He said that he worked very hard to make sure he spoke accurately and with respect. I am sure he doesn’t sound like a native speaker, though pretty good for a Texan, I imagine.

AdoptDontShopPets

Liked this episode. Sam taking a leadership role was nice to see, even though it was probably more to distract him from not knowing where Dean is. This is one of the only episodes where Jared and Jensen didn't have any scenes together, pretty amazing after 14 years. Guess demons still think Sam could have some power over them from Azazel when Sam was supposed to take over and lead the army of demons. Not sure why Cas doesn't have some powers, maybe has something to do with coming back from the Empty. Feel bad for Jack, he just feels useless, and just wants to help. Mary did show a little more concern for Sam which was nice to see, Sam seems more down than usual and like he won't be able to find Dean. Hopefully sister Jo will give him some hope.

Susan Sebert

You are so right, Stacey. It was really nice to see Mary in this episode truly being a mom to her son. (Me complimenting Mary? How did that happen? 😂)

AdoptDontShopPets

Don’t feel badly that you are confused as to why Cas has no powers. Not only wasn’t he able to heal himself or others, he wasn’t able to see that everyone in the bar was a demon. He never should have been in that situation to be beaten up. My recollection is that at the time, the fandom was very confused as well. It was chalked up to being the whim of the writers who have Cas’s grace and powers vary based upon the needs of the plot. No rhyme or reason it seems. You’re just always wondering each episode, what is Cas able to do today? Glad you love Sam’s new look! At a convention I believe it was dubbed “the grief beard.” Poor Sam, too tired and focused on finding Dean that he doesn’t bother to shave. I really do love how Sam is showing his leadership capability. It does raise the interesting question of why we don’t see that side of Sam very often. We definitely saw it at the end of season 12 and now here again at the beginning of season 14. They were raised as soldiers which means there’s one general, which typically is Dean. Interesting question then whether Sam’s upbringing naturally has him following Dean, who he has looked up to since childhood, or is it that Dean asserts his leadership. A bit of both I imagine. Assuming they get Dean back at some point, wonder how the leadership dynamic plays out. Warning: Mini rant ahead. Stop reading now if you want to save yourself. 😂 OK, it’s not the Dabb/Singer showrunner era unless I have something to complain about. I have a love/hate relationship with this season. Some episodes and aspects of the story I love, others I despise. I mean NICK, really? Why can we not just put everything relating to Lucifer behind us. Just like Sam, I would rather not have to look at that face anymore. It was so wonderful having Lucifer killed at the end of season 13 (it only took 8 years, lol) and yet we still cannot put it all behind us. *sigh* Rant done.

AdoptDontShopPets

I really love this season opener such a good sam based episode and surprisingly an episode to not feature Dean, I also really love the Mary and Sam scenes in this episode we dont get as much focus on her relationship with Sam as we do with Dean so I enjoyed them

Stacey

Oh yes, this episode makes you wonder whether the Boyking story line could make a reappearance to defeat Michael.

AdoptDontShopPets

Oh don’t tease us like that! I know you cannot share the quote right now, because spoilers. Will you share what episode, so we can secretly try and figure it out ourselves?

AdoptDontShopPets

Sam being the coolest, scariest mofo. He was the Boyking, so I'm sure all the demons have some... reservations. Really interesting situation! And it's sad that he flourishes in life advances when Dean isn't stopping him from doing so. Dean is doing it out of care, but it damages mostly.

Season 14 - wow! I've only watched the season once, so I can't remember it as a whole, only certain events. But there are some biggies! Enjoy (if that's the right word)! p.s. this season provided one of my favourite SPN quotes of all time - I got it printed on a coffee mug!

Man... season 14, I know Im not with you since the beginning of your reactions but still feels like a long time ago and as yesterday at the same time. I remember saying "oh she looks nice, what a funny reactions" and then hitting the suscribe button, then I keep hearing about your Patreon and got me like "what's Patreon". That was months ago and I feel like Im gonna blink and you'll be posting the last SPN reaction and Im gonna lose it... Why I am telling you this? I don't know, Im an old man, so maybe my golden years are right around the corner Anyway, back on business. I don't mean to be a creep, but Jensen with that look... even if I wasn't all on board with the Michael thing, definitely that made it worth it. God I loveee seing Sam being badass, a natural leader and Im so here for it. Poor Jack, he can't catch a break, I mean he's 2 years old and already gone trough a lot :( PS: I also love when Heaven or Hell ships Destiel, so true...

For years, Danneel refused to be on Supernatural because she was afraid that the fans would dislike her and it would ruin things for Jensen. He persuaded herm but then was anxious that it would backfire and she would get a negative reaction from fans. He thanked them for being so supportive of her. Apart from a few of the crazies, everyone loves her.
