Why hello there Marvel fans,
This was NOT what I envisioned Wandavision to be haha! Caught completely off guard. I have been told it takes a couple eps to get into so I'd be up for watching more to see the changes. I do like the characters & the way they have so much intrigue about them, even the neighbour had me wanting to know more haha.
I have been warned about not watching if I havent seen the films. I'd be willing for you guys to fill me in with the characters & plot of those to save me some time watching lol. Up to you though :)

I didn't like that too much. Not the reaction, yours are always fun, dj, never fear. The fact that nobody told you what type of show it was going to be. If you just watch ep 1, it'll confuse you. This is why the first three eps were release all at once. It's sitcom format, for plot reasons. And, it is good. Ep one is just kinda jarring and perplexing by design.

2021-05-24 01:43:00 +0000 UTCUnfortunately, in my opinion, a summation of what has happened in the 20+ (23? 3 Iron Mans, 3 Thors, 1 Hulk, 3 Captain Americas, 2 Ant Mans, 1 Doctor Strange, 1 Black Panther, 1 Captain Marvel, 2 Spidermans, 2 Guardians of the Galaxies, 4 Avengers) Marvel movies, or even the snippets suggested, will not truly inform you of the nuances of Wandavision, never mind Falcon and the Winter Soldier or the upcoming Loki. There is just too much that happens in each film to properly summarize and inform emotional impact. It's like someone who picks up Lucifer starting with Season 4 and just wants a summary of everything that's happened prior. At best, you're giving them story arc highlights without any of the emotional impact or any of the details that eventually come in call backs. It just won't be as meaningful, even if you are able to logically piece everything together based on snippets. On the plus side, if you react to one MCU film a week you have 5+ months of content before you even begin reacting to the (currently) two TV series, and the Loki series hasn't even aired yet :-D Edit: I should point out that the 2 MCU versions of Spiderman do not cover his origin story because it was the third reboot of the franchise. Tobey Maguire starred in the first 3 Spidermans. Then Andrew Garfield starred in two films for the second reboot. Tom Holland is the current Spiderman and they skipped the whole origin story part, figuring people had already seen enough of it at this point and didn't need a primer. So... unofficially include Sam Raimi's first Spiderman starring Tobey Maguire to understand that character :-D

2021-04-28 00:21:40 +0000 UTCI'm so glad you're doing this show! Also glad that you'll try a few more episodes before deciding if it's for you or not. (I agree that a snippet of Wanda and Visions previous movie highlights is a good base to have.) As someone who watched infinity war twice in the theater (and cried both times) I was hooked on the first episode. The moment that got me the most was Mr Hart choking at dinner and all the sudden the camera is creepy angles and Mrs Hart looks like she's looking at Wanda and not her husband when she's saying "stop it". I get chills because we have no clue what is happening here. I can't wait to watch with you. 🪄👍☺️ I liked this reaction just because you were really into the cute sitcom and waiting for some big MCU thing to jump out at you. 👌 I said above that it makes one appreciate how far TV shows have come since the 50s. 👍😏

But I would most definitely recommend either watching the movies or watching the snippets before continuing the show. Otherwise you'll miss a lot of the story beats and emotional bits later on in the show.... I'll shut up now lol

2021-04-23 19:34:58 +0000 UTCThere is actually a series of short snippets on Disney Plus called "Marvel Studios Legends". They have an 8 minute synopsis of Wanda and Vision's character arcs. So I don't think it's entirely necessary to watch all the films before this show, but it would be fun to have a Marvel reaction series with you where you react to all the movies lol. I'd definitely suggest watching the snippets on Disney Plus so you have more insight into the characters though. This show is sort of a character study on these two characters as opposed to action driven like most of the films. I really liked this pilot, but I think it's mainly because I grew up watching Nick at Nite(I Love Lucy, Dick van Dyke, Bewitched etc). It made me nostalgic lol. It does take 2 or 3 episodes before it starts to unravel the story a bit outside of the old style sitcom vibe. It was a very emotional show for me. It made me cry a handful of times.

It took people telling me it gets better and all makes sense if you keep watching. But, I do think watching the movies would help understand what happens and why.

2021-04-23 18:07:17 +0000 UTCI do think it would be better to watch the main Avengers and Captain America films before watching this - as Pentaholic says, it increases the connection to the characters. You could definitely do reactions to the films! (For this first episode, I think it makes no difference except in that everyone would recognize the two leads - everyone was left scratching their heads and going huh?)

2021-04-23 16:14:43 +0000 UTCI don’t know - many might disagree with me but I don’t know if you would be better if watching the movies before you continue just so you get to know the characters a bit better and develope that connection to them so when stuff happens it has more power - hope that makes sense - I’m very excited for this also I know your reaction will be mint so I’m gonna watch it ASAP cannot wait
