You are not being charged for this post. Part of my recuperation from my shoulder injury has been trying to sit at a computer and do non-typing things to at least pin down what kind of posture does not aggravate the injury. Thankfully, Microsoft Flight Sim 2020 just came out and offered the perfect activity for this. I am not endorsing the program and they are not paying me to advertise it; I just enjoy it. Readers of mine will have probably figured out by now that I have a love of aviation and flying. This flight sim is incredible (if you have a powerful enough computer and graphics card to run it). I played around with making some of the flights that Jake made in the story. The first image is of the flight Jake makes every day from Whiteman Airport to his home in Oceano, flying along the spine of the coastal range. The second image is of the flight described in Chapter 18, from Whiteman to Phoenix, taken shortly after takeoff. The San Gabriel Mountains are visible on the left and the eastern LA suburbs are visible below. The airplane is not the same as Jake's but it is very similar in flight characteristics. This is my first attempt at posting images on this site, so... hopefully you all can actually see them.
