October RS Updates!

So, no art to share this time, since I've been focusing on the writing element of the game. I took a hard look at the script for Reckless Sympathy part 1 and.... threw it out. Not really, but since I finished that little proof of concept I nailed down a bunch of things I wasn't quite happy with. I've tweaked the order of events, rewritten a bunch of scenes, and I feel like it flows a lot better now.
To put it in a non spoiler-y way, I've always known that I wanted part 1 to be kind of a laid back introduction to the main cast, and to end with a *BANG*.
What that bang actually is has gone back and forth over the 5 or so versions of the script that I've gone through, but I feel pretty settled now. Funnily enough, the current ending is similar to my original idea for the end of part 2, but I was taking too long to get there.
One of the most challenging parts of all this is working out how the main characters are introduced, how they present themselves, and how others respond to them. I have a very clear picture of these girls in my head, their quirks, strengths, and failings, but communicating it all in a compelling way without tipping my whole hand instantly is a new kind of puzzle for me. A lot of my writing experience is short stories and fics, you know? Reckless Sympathy is a lot more long-form, so the characters get to have more depth, with the tradeoff that they aren't quite as easy to pitch.
Anyway, that's what I've got in my head right now. I still don't have a clear picture of when part 1 will be done, but I should be able to buckle down a little for the winter and really focus as I bask under my new seasonal depression sun lamp.
