So much conflicting emotion surrounding their situation, and probably a fair amount of altered perception out of simply having not been there for it. Asriel's detachment from his parents' separation will obviously color his understanding of the reasons behind it, while Frisk is not only aware of both sides of the story, but also has to come to terms with having their own opinion of the situation, and (just presumption at this point) probably has some amount of protective instinct to shield him from the reality of how his actions were the catalyst for the events which split them apart. Beyond that, the simple fact that both he and Frisk are young, and don't necessarily understand the emotions behind simultaneously longing for someone's past self and being unable to justify their present one...well that's just not something that anyone can really explain, until they experience it. Good stuff!

Asriel’s family was all in one piece before he died, and now that he’s back suddenly it’s completely changed. It’s interesting to think a out how that would change HIM in turn, too.
