Announcements + Update

Hi lovelies! I’m here with an update on what’s going on in my life right now, and a little on what to expect from my Patreon page and comics in 2019. 

But before that I have some matters to address:

• Credits list
  Due to the number of patrons I have now, I’m unable to list everyone in the credits any longer so I will be removing this from the rewards for now.
  
• Current Patreon goal
  By golly I hit my latest goal! Totally did not expect this one to happen so soon. It was a figure I threw in there just to have a goal to work towards. And because I have yet to come up with a suitable goal reward, I’m going to increase this goal amount (or maybe remove it) so I can focus on delivering existing content to you guys.
  
• Previous Patreon goal (weekly updates)
  This one is a bit tricky and will tie in with the situation that I’ll explain in the update below so please read on for more info.
  
• Asura's Bride and Midnight Poppy Land Update Schedule
  Asura’s Bride will resume in middle or end March 2019, and will go for 3-4 months before I switch back to Midnight Poppy Land. My plan is to continue juggling both comics until both are complete. It will probably take a few years for this to happen, because the stories are pretty lengthy and detailed.

And that’s it for housekeeping matters. Now on to more personal stuff and to address the promised weekly updates. 

If you’ve read my previous update here, I quit my full time job in October 2018, but was still working part-time for 2 months. The part-time gig ended early this month (January 2019), so I’m a free woman now thanks to you guys!

It’s amazing because I get to work on comics full-time, spend more time with family and friends, and have enough sleep and rest on most days. All this really means the world to me and I can’t thank all of you enough! 

The drawback: I’ve come to realise that doing this full time (as opposed to 3-4 hrs a day on weekdays and 8-10 on weekends) is a whole new beast. 

As much as I’m madly in love and obsessed with making comics, it’s much tougher than I'd expected to be disciplined with drawing at my computer for many hours a day, everyday. I’m also trying to set aside more time to spend with the hubs, whom I’d neglected for a good part of 2017 - 2018 (probably only went on a handful of dates with him in total!). 

This means I’ll be less active on Patreon because keeping the momentum going on production work is very important. But please know that even if I'm less active now, I’m still reading all your comments and reactions with love and appreciation (and split sides from laughing too much). I’ll also still be replying any questions you might have for me, but please drop me a PM or email if I miss out on anything. 

In the meantime, I will be working hard to build the discipline muscles needed to do this. I know I can do this, I just need some time to get accustomed to it. But I got this guys, don't worry!

Now to address the weekly updates matter. 

After the last few weeks of working full time on this, I’ve found (unfortunately T^T) that weekly updates are only possible for me if I shorten the episode length, or reduce the quality of artwork. But I really don’t want to do that! Art quality is super important to me and if anything, I want to be increasing it not reducing it. And shortening the length breaks the flow of the story, so that’s not a good thing either. 

What I intend to do instead is to continue with bi-weekly updates. BUT they will be longer length episodes (like my recent 40-45 panels instead of my previous 25-30) so I can move the story along more quickly, have more story per episode to tell, and produce the best artwork I possibly can. To put the length into perspective, 40-45 panels every 2 weeks is the equivalent of roughly 3-4 pages a week in traditional webcomic terms which, I think, is a very decent amount!

PLUS, this will allow me to continue working on NSFW AU comic strips for you guys in the Secret Garden tier. I think you guys are really enjoying the comic strips (and so am I!!), so I really want to make more of these for y'all.

TL;DR, I won't be doing weekly updates, but there will be longer bi-weekly updates (40-45 panels instead of my 25-30 panels) with continued high quality artwork, and more NSFW AU comic strips for the $5 tier patrons.

I hate that I'm unable to deliver my promise and I'm so sorry guys. But I think this is a good compromise for everyone, including myself. It will be something I won’t have to kill myself over, nor sacrifice too much rest and family time for. This will also allow me to carry on making comics without burning out, which is super important for a long-term project. 

PLUS. This doesn't mean that it will go on forever! If in a few months time, I'm able to get the hang of this new working life, I will try to make the switch to weekly updates again.
