Poll: Tier Changes for Tariffs

Hi everybody. The US president is using an emergency declaration in order to place sudden and erratic tariffs on imports from all over the world. In January there was an 18% tariff on pin orders over $800. In February the tariff was raised to 28%. In March he increased it again to 38%. He keeps threatening more retaliatory tariffs. Additionally, he wants to get rid of the $800 threshold, so even if we broke our orders into smaller ones, it would still get the full tax. The US has no hard enamel pin production at all so importing is a must.

Basically, we have to do something to both deal with rising costs and to create a buffer against volatility. We've brainstormed ways to do that without impacting y'all too much, and ways to add value to your experience. Here are our ideas:

1) Make two non-pin tiers.  

• The $3 "Coupon Club" tier would still exist with access to general polls about our upcoming crowdfunding projects and access to store updates before folks on our social media, but the store discount code would be for 10% instead of 20%.

• A new $6 "Regulars' Requests" tier would be made. Everybody at this tier and all pin tiers would get special perks, many of which are new:

  • Ability to make suggestions on new pins you want to see made, once a month.

  • A chance to see your suggestion turned into a loose sketch, 1-2 per month.

  • The ability to vote on which of these monthly sketches becomes a real pin, 2-3 times a year.

  • The ability to suggest and vote on which uncommon flags pins will have 2-3 times a year.

  • Earliest access to pin leftovers and store updates

  • 20% off store code

2) A new $60 "VIP" tier, limited quantity of slots.

• This would get all 4 pins and benefits of the Buffet tier

• A hand-painted mystery pin every quarter.  We'd be adding colors and patterns to make a totally unique variant just for you! It would be painted with acrylic markers, so it would be permanent but try not to scratch it up.

• The ability to request one duplicate pin per quarter. If you wanted two of something without having to wait for leftovers sales, this is the tier to do it! You will need to tell us your requests over email every quarter.

3) Increase the price of single-pin tiers.

• We would increase the price from the current $15 to $16-$18, depending on how successful the Regulars Requests tier and the VIP tier are at closing the gap made by tariffs. If the new tiers are successful we could keep the pin tier prices lower.

• The prices of 2, 3, and 4 pin tiers would stay the same.
