Black Roses 2014 Replica Deck
Added 2023-08-24 15:00:08 +0000 UTCI'm still playing with the idea of a BR 2014 replica deck for the 10 Year Anniversary Kickstarter campaign. Fortunately, I found the original files of my very first deck on my old hard drive. The files are still saved on the MPC website but I'm not able to download the files. Over the years MPC also changed their tuck box and for a replica deck it's important to me that really every detail looks like the original deck.
For those of you who don't know, I crowdfunded my very first deck in 2014 on a German crowdfunding platform. 938€ from 38 backers in 40 days...
With WJPC I'm able to recreate that deck. I would just add "2014 replica" somewhere on the tuck box.
In this post I want to show you that I also started somewhere and how TERRIBLE my first court cards look like...
I already removed the crown in my second deck. This shape, which widens upwards due to the lack of long hair, has something pharaonic about it. Looks weird and it always throw me off today when I see creators doing it.
The Jack of Diamonds - my brother in law - is the King of Spades today.
The Jack of Clubs is also still the same Jack of Clubs in most of my decks. The current version is also one of my best court card drawings ever.
The King and Queen of Hearts got redesigned as well but they are still the same in most of my decks.
The Jack of Hearts can still be found in most of my decks as the Jack of Diamonds - but today with a beard.
The Queen of Spades is also still in most of my decks today. The King of Spades, a good friend of mine who appeared the last time as a court card in the Altrosa deck. It's just too difficult to draw him :D
