[TUTORIAL] - Advanced 3D Rendering with Buffers

That's it, the tutorial is finished. For now, it's an early access to contributors. In some days, it will be available for everybody here and on YT.

This knowledge was learned in my past experience, about 10 years in Animation Movies & VFX Industry : the use of render passes to tweak the 3d renders and get the final result.

I tried to adapt very common compositing techniques in precalculated imagery to the world of real-time images.

I know I've already shared a project file about this topic, but many of you are still asking me some questions about the process. A tutorial is probably the best way to explain everything.

I hope you will find it useful.

Tell me what do you think about these techniques..

Hello Andrew. You're right, I converted it from OBJ to TOG. The obj was away from the origin and as far as i remember, the up axis was also wrong. So, for clarity, i decided to transform it and re-save it.

I may have missed something, but how did you get a .tog file of the model from sketchfab? Or did you convert it?

Andrew Edman

Thanks Carl. Happy you liked it. The whole process can be a little bit expensive in vram for the gpu. For projects, choose wisely which buffers you need, or not, and go! Enjoy. Feel free to ask me anything if you need so.

This was super interesting. Thanks for the great breakdown of the content. I'm keen to give it a go in my next projects

WARNING : I've just discovered that the project files (another post) are pretty much working in the recent TD releases but 2 or 3 things are broken due to some DATs. I take the time to solve everything and will reupload during the weekend.
