Wild Fire Evacuation
Added 2024-07-27 17:17:05 +0000 UTCAs mentioned in a previous post, there is a wild fire in our area so we have evacuated in hopes that things will die down over the weekend. Just checked fire watch alerts and things have only gotten worse. It is now the largest arson fire in California history. So…yeah, not sure when my next post will be. staying with family. I have my computer and files, so that’s all good, but no place to work. was hoping to go home on Monday, but that may not be happening. Will keep you updated.
In the meantime, I’m gonna do some work on my iPad and sketchbook. Will share some rough stuff if I come up with anything worth sharing, I will. We’re in a good place, so will keep at it. Chat soon!
Any thoughts on what I should draw? Throw me some ideas! We’ll see what happens!

2024-07-28 11:41:40 +0000 UTCGuess I wouldn't mind a "family photo" style drawing of the entire cast of Black Label (at least everyone whose name has been mentioned - that's currently 9 characters by my count) that I could put on a coffee mug. It would have to be entirely SFW, however. But TBH I don't particularly like telling creatives how they should apply their talent. "Draw [write/paint/animate/etc.] whatever tickles your fancy" is usually the correct thing to say. If they're good, they'll find a way to pleasantly surprise you regardless. Reminds me of what Henry Ford is rumored to have said - "If I had asked people what they wanted, they would have said faster horses." Stay safe and take as much time as you need.

It pulls data from lots of sources including the federal dispatch centers and Twitter feeds, regularly updates fire sizes and containment percentages, has daily map updates, shows the "Ready/Set/Go" evacuation areas, shows pictures of the fires from various vantage points, and even shows sattelite heatmaps. Larger fires get curated by dedicated staff members, and smaller ones are more automated. It's such a good aggregator of information that we regularly use it in the professional world as an information supplement. I'll get notifications of new fires basically as I'm getting dispatched to them.
