A boring "so whats up" update & a poll ~
Added 2022-10-17 03:29:04 +0000 UTCThank you everyone for your generous support and patience. Got some fun stuff brewing and I'm hoping I'll have it out just around the corner. Just want to lay some stuff out and make sure everyone feels like they're in the know and that their patience isn't going unheard.
So first, I'll start with the good news. I got a couple hurdles to tackle, but a good bit of the content for the v0.1.1H is about done. Just got to write a couple endings and spiff up some mechanics. I know it's terribly boring waiting for updates, so it got me wondering if maybe I should try a different approach. I don't work well sticking to one thing at a time, i like to cycle and with my work schedule being sporadic I don't really get the time I'd like to have for this project. I only get a squeak of time for it here or there. So, I'd love your feedback.
Are you okay with these longer waits for big updates or would you like more frequent but less impactful updates. As in, I'd update frequently, but it'd be largely unfinished or broken content, among bug fixes and spur of the moment stuff like I do, but it'd generally be weekly or so, whenever I feel like "oh, thats a line-item to add, thats done" lol
This is compared to me having a number of clear goals, bouncing around between them to a large degree and eventually, each gets mostly finished to the point of a larger somewhat stable release (kind of as we've been doing)
I'm going to run a poll and confer with my peers on it. All in all, I just want to show my appreciation for your support. This is just a hobby for me, a little passion project I escape too. Given all the time in the world I'd love to dig my heels in and just make a beautiful mess of a game ahha. As it is though, just me fussing around in my little personal project, enough of you have donated that we could pay our vet bill when our kitty had an unexpected bacterial flare up that dissolved a part of her gut lining this month. It was a surprise expense, and like, ya'll covered us for that. Thank you. (Kitty is all good now by the way, she's just having to put up with us giving her kids flavored amoxicillin because the only vet open at the time was out of fish flavored ones, haha. The poor thing has to put up with that awful pink stuff for a couple weeks here lol)
Anyways, one more pretty important thing i should mention is, well, for those that haven't kept up much the last several months. We're pregnant! And it won't be long till I'm a mom. Come late December/early January our little one will be born so thats obviously going to take up a big part of our life soon. I will still be working on this game, it's a passion of mine, it's bound to bounce up and down here or there, but temper your expectations around this priority shift.
Even I'm not sure how this will effect things, this game is fun for me to work on, its my little private workshop i get to sink into and de-stress, its not going anywhere. But with baby, I guess we'll see. Heck, paradoxically I may even have more time for the game lol. After my parental leave ends I'm planning on drastically reducing my hours at work so I can have more time at home as a care-taker for our little one, (my wife‘s job and out found-siblings job are supportive enough that this is at least a temporary option for me, so im eager to embrace it), so I may have more free time. Or I have may have none at all, ahah! Guess it'll depend on who our little one takes after, hehe
Anyways
TL:DR: Shits busy, going to get busier soon because im having a baby, but I'm still going to be working on this game, structured or not, I'm having such fun making this thing lol. Your support is just icing on that cake. So come newyears when I'm busy being a momma, don't feel bad if you need to pull support for a while till the game is more active. Till then I just want to get a poll going to see if you all prefer frequent but unstructured updates or more stable updates with longer turn around times ~ (Also the next version should be out in a handful of days methinks ~)
