Yeah that totally makes sense to me as well! I think a lot of people who relate to Erika may also be queer. Like The Cat’s Meow and all the stuff with Wolfie is such a queer allegory. But I think it also works for anyone else who fits outside of a social norm, like being a tomboy etc etc. Thanks so much for pledging and commenting!

2024-05-31 15:47:13 +0000 UTCI always related to Erika more especially because I was not princess like at all, with the subplot with Wolfie learning how to be himself really moving me. When my sister and I sang this together she would always sing Anneliese's part and I Erika's. But looking back I really relate to Anneliese having to be a person who is always proper and calmly doing what's expected of her, being in control of her emotions while not having control of the situation.
