She had a good time as well. She didn't forget her adult self when she was younger. She knew this was just a game, but the way Brandy explained it; you can appreciate childish things when you're this size. We even visited the toys aisle in Tesco and she picked out a Baby Annabell doll.
There's a choice that comes with the treatment - like taking the green or red pill in that Keanu Reeves film - whether you want your mind to match your body. She chose the red pill, a way to stop her mind regressing. She said she wanted to stay in control. How very Brandy.
During the day, I fed her gummi bears that worked the same way as the pill. Stopped her from having any tantrums, but didn't stop her swooning over the doll in the pink pyajamas. In the park, she sat on the bench beside me and 'burped' her baby, patting the doll's back with her little cupped hand. Such a look of maternal devotion on that five year old face!
After she was back to normal, I teased her about the doll.
She just smiled, but I knew she was thinking about the deal we made, not bringing kids into this messed-up world.
I kissed her and said, "Let's do it again next weekend."
Because if she wanted to play with dolls once in a while, if she wanted to have a 'daddy', then I wasn't going to stand in her way.
