How I usually draw Tempest's abs
Added 2018-04-19 20:58:19 +0000 UTCEven though I draw some girl's abs with the pencil, I usually don't ink the abs. Mainly because they don't look appealing if these are very noticeable. But I need them for the shadows I have to draw. Because of that, one trick I do is to mark X's with ink in the key points of the abs.
After scanning the work, I pick the X marks and I give them their own layer. Then, after finishing with the flat colors, the first thing I do is to draw the shadows right on the abs. I use the brush for drawing them and then I use the eraser to clean the places where there are X marks. That way I can make the abs less noticeable. Finally, I take the X marks layer out of it.
I'm aware this is not the best trick because you should draw the shadows based on the sketch. However, these sketches are usually made with digital tablets, and I don't have one. That's why I say I scan my drawings after inking them and cleaning them. Another reason why I'm showing this to you is because the last update Tempst looks weird without shadows. So I wanted to clarify this. In fact, this is how I've drawn Tempest in another drawing I've made some weeks ago.
