MLP 79 - The MLP film is pretty damn good

So there you go, a comic where I talk a bit about the MLP film. I wanted it to be simple, but I also wanted to take care of the colors.

Now I will say this, because people enjoyed the Equestria Girls films and the later seasons of the show (which is completely fine) and… this movie works basically like the first EG film in the sense that you don’t have to watch the show to understand Equestria Girls and it had three sequels and many other shorts.

And I didn’t like the EG films (except the first one because it was different back then) and I didn’t like the direction of the later seasons. I thought the show had unnecessary returns, derivative episodes and concepts from some previous ones, a very forced sense of humor, an uninteresting seventh main character, some great concepts were completely shattered by some decisions, characters that were out-of-characters…

But i really really liked this movie. It worked in all the ways that the later seasons did not.

I don't expect you to agree with me (mainly because I admit I'm very nitpicking), but the least I can do is to let you know that I enjoyed this film a lot. One of my 10 favourite films of 2017.

I'll go in depth when I submit this comic in DeviantArt tomorrow. Characters, comedic moments, dramatic moments, pacing, art design, the Toon Boom Harmony tool, the villains, the songs, the music, the highlights, the plot, the structure, the evolution of the characters, etc.

About the last panel, this is not a jab at the people who enjoyed and still enjoy the show. I think it's pretty awesome to love it nowadays, so don't get me wrong. This is also not an attack on the people who like the redesign of the changelings. I've used the last panel for contrast purposes. Now it's safe to say that I don't mind the directions the show is going to take in the future because I got the movie I wanted point by point, scene by scene and word by word. So I don't have to nitpick every single detail as I had done with season 6 while I was watching it.

That being said, happy new year, thank you very much for your support, love what you love and I'll see you the next year with more new stuff. ;)
