I feel like sometimes the ladies are too angry to actually like... *understand* what someone is saying in a scene when a character they don't like is saying it lol. 23:40 "I know what it is to toil for what others are freely given." "No you don't because you're not royalty!" Like Ma'am, yes, he is NOT royalty, or nobility, so he had to TOIL by fighting in actual combat to work his way up the ladder lol. I'm not sure how I feel about this because I feel like they weren't this I guess, agitated over characters in GOT, and while I love the passion they have, it's getting in the way of them actually understanding the undertones (and overtones) of the story.

Yeah I think the implication is definitely there. The way they talk and look at each other. And it's not like Alicent's been getting any recently, and even when she was, it's not like she took pleasure from it. I think in her mind, it's still fine because she "did her duty" first, had Viserys' children, before indulging herself with Criston, and she does it secretly. Which all adds up in her mind to being better and more responsible than Rhaenyra who just has another guy's children and pretends they're her husband's when it's obvious to everyone they aren't, which like... yeah, Alicent's got a bit of a point there. Ignoring of course that Laenor is gay where Viserys wasn't so it was of course much easier for her to conceive her husband's children than it was for Rhaenyra.

On Maples comment about Criston doin all this for a woman not giving him action, I mean do we know? he was mysteriously absent from guarding the children that night that Aemond lost his eye. She whispered in his ear oddly sensually when she commanded him to go find Aegon. She puts up with her deal with Larys (and by the look of it, she's done it many times). Are we assuming that Alicent wouldn't be hypocritical?

I think a lot of people, including Arianna and Maple, downplay the fact that marriage vows are far more important in the GOT world than they are in our modern world. Marriage is still a sacred vow/oath in front of the gods. Having bastard children out of wedlock makes you an oathbreaker(we all know how Jamie was looked down on for being one). Breaking her vows makes Rhaneras word worthless. And several characters mentioned her children even should be put to death for such an offence.

I wouldn't even say Rhaenyra's first two sons are bastard usurpers because there is no question that they are of Targeryen blood and are the heir's children.. because the heir is a woman. At the same time they were conceived with the full knowledge and support of Laenor, the heir's husband. He claimed them as his own, his father claimed them as his lineage, the King legitimized them multiple times (which we know is a thing thanks to Ramsey & Roose).
