Fun bit of US Army history. Easy Company's rescue of the British paratroopers forged a relationship between the two nations' airborne units that continues to this day. During that party after the operation, the British paratroopers gifted their maroon berets to the men of E Co. out of gratitude. A few years later, because of that, the maroon beret became the official garrison headgear for all US Army Airborne soldiers. They still wear the Maroon Beret to this day.

Here’s a detail I noticed after watching the series for a while: when the smoke grenade is thrown, the men from Toccoa immediately react, jumping up as soon as it pops. They've been using this equipment since D-Day—about five months—and they recognize the sound and know how it should behave.
However, in this instance, the grenade malfunctions and takes too long to disperse. Peacock, the new replacement lieutenant introduced in the previous episode, who was colorblind and lacks the combat experience of the non-commissioned officers and other privates and corporals in the platoon. Despite holding a higher rank, he doesn't have the same instincts developed from months of frontline action. When the grenade doesn't work as expected, Peacock tells the men to wait. The Toccoa veterans, despite recognizing the malfunction, have to follow his order instead of relying on the combat instincts they've built over the past five months and following Winters like he said to.
Also the 2 companies moment always floors me, 1 platoon took out a majority of 2 Companies. (3 platoons make up a Company which is made of 177 men, so 1 Platoon took out nearly 354 men)
