Why you being weird about the marriage it's sweet!! What's to get lol they looove each other

Yeah I think slowly across the seasons the evidence just piles up.. although I truly don't recall when I accepted that on my first watch! Eventually became one of my fav tv relationships of all time. As always interesting to see different reactions to it though.

She didn't say it, but Kevin's criticism of her judgement in romantic partners is the reason she went back in to criticize his decision making skills. We have seen that once Kim makes a decision to walk down a path, no amount of telling her how wrong she is will cause her to get into her mother's car. Chuck, Howard, and now Kevin have all tried to run Jimmy/Saul down in order to change her mind, but to Kim Jimmy is the one who is devoted to her, who supports her no matter what. Kim knows who Jimmy is, and she's chosen him.

very true! and both speeches whilst somewhat pathetic precipitate a turn for the worse (walt into S5 'Heisenberg' and Jimmy into Breaking Bad era Saul Goodman)

Kara

They've been comparisons to Jimmy speech to Howard to Walt's "I'm the one who knocks" a little pathetic and both full of themselves.

My wife said it best, Kim is waay to hot and waay too smart and successful to be with Jimmy and all his drama!! Maple is absolutely correct-- she could do sooo much better!

Now's as good a time as any to point out how in Saul's first ever appearance on Breaking Bad, when Walt and Jesse take him out to the desert and he thinks he's about to die, he name drops Lalo, Ignacio (Nacho), and says in Spanish that he's a friend of the cartel. I have no doubt these were just throwaway lines at the time, but without spoiling anything, it's cool to see how some random lines of dialogue in an episode from 2009 is bearing fruit now! Here is the clip if you want to revisit, but DO NOT read the comments lol https://youtu.be/k82Vo4d3-tQ?si=XK0VeiwDvVFSfZX4

I think Maple is completely missing the point with Kim. You did admit that relationships aren't necessarily about "getting something out of it" but you're still treating it like that, constantly asking why Kim wants to be with him, what she gets from him, why she's doing it. The reason is she loves him, she likes being with him. Y'all were so pre-occupied with the comedic side of the wedding (not that it wasn't funny) that you seemed to miss the obvious intensity of their emotions when they actually faced each other and said "I do". They might have gotten married as a legal arrangement but in that moment, they are reminded that they do also actually love each other. And that's why Kim stays with him even if it's "bad for her" or whatever. It's honestly not that complicated. Well it is complicated for Kim, but it's not difficult to understand. Also, y'all are reading waaaay too much into that short scene we got with young Kim at the high school and trying to make some sort of psychoanalysis of her that's honestly based on nothing. That scene wasn't there for nothing but it's also not much more than we already know from other places. We knew that she grew up quite poor, in a small town, with not a lot of prospects, both from her job interview at Schweikart & Cokeley and later a bit from her conversation with Acker. We knew what she wanted most was "more". But you are trying to read some sort of abusive relationship with her mother into that when I honestly don't think you can read that at all from that scene. To a degree, the point was that her mother was somewhat neglectful and probably alcoholic, but insofar as it relates to present-day Kim, trying to extrapolate an abusive relationship with her mother that she's recreating with Jimmy, and abandonment issues, like what? We don't even know that her mother "abandoned" her in any way, she just didn't seem to be a great mother. That scene was simply more evidence of a poor, neglected childhood that led to the ambition we now see in her. And for someone like her to get this far from nothing, you know that she had to work hard for years and years and stay on the straight and narrow and Jimmy is a way for her to be naughty, to do things she "shouldn't" do and even as Jimmy goes further and further, she doesn't want to lose that. Plus, Jimmy obviously also loves her completely and unconditionally, and it's not so hard to think that a person doesn't want to lose that without it necessarily having to do anything with her relationship with her mother.

It's really hard to discuss Jimmy and Kim without the context of the full show so I won't! I trust that everyone will be satisfied by the end 🥰 You both called Jimmy's outburst 100%. Man is literally creating a new persona for himself because Jimmy is a sad loser with a dead brother but Saul Goodman is a "friend of the cartel" who dunks on the justice system and 'just makes money'. "I manage a cinnabon!" lmfaooo so true, but for like 18 months Saul was on top of the world with TV ads and getting rich off a bald science man + his surrogate son 🥺

Kara

I think people with self-esteem in good long term relationships sometimes struggle to empathise with good women who stay with (perceptually) mid/bad guys. Like Jimmy is probably the only person who has ever been uncritically, unconditionally kind + loving to Kim. She's in her 40s (???), is a somewhat broken person, loves Jimmy and thinks doubling down is the way to go. Millions of women out there make this calculation every day with much worse partners than Jimmy.

Kara

I think you guys are taking away agency from Kim's decisions, of course her past has a huge influence in her subconscious but it comes a point in time when adults willingly make choices fully understanding what might happen if or when things go wrong.

Diego Alexander

I don't know man, it might be what you were thinking but Maple very rarely says what I'm thinking ^^' I think it's pretty obvious, Kim just loves Jimmy, and wants to be with him, and she thinks getting married is gonna make that easier. Whether she's right or not is a different matter, but it's not that hard to understand.

Christophe

Huel took wedding photos with a disposable camera lol. I’m sure there’s no message in that…

Tim Martin

It's so funny Maple is saying what all of us were thinking when we watched this episode...why on earth is Kim with him. Kinda a bit similar to Devon and Ricken's relationship although they're different nuances to it
