Would you want to work with the Salamancas after dealing with Tuco? Sure, the money’s on point but you don’t need big time heat coming down you.

Makes sense to me that Jimmy was not eager to get into bed with the dealers. The higher up the chain you go with that underworld the scarier and more dangerous the people become. Jimmy wanted the reliable clients of the methheads and bikers and stuff, but the cartel is a scary monster compared to them.

Mike is going through similar dark down spiral guilt Jesse went through after killing Gale

I said the same but yeah, he can buy a similar house elsewhere + cover the moving fees. Its not GOOD but its not BAD, considering he's legally in the wrong and they can just make the sheriff evict him (rip). that's why everyone else took the same deal.

Good ep, great reaction! This episode confirms the current year in the show is 2004 (Mr Acker has 70 years left on a 100 year lease that started in 1974). Breaking Bad 1x1 takes place in 2008. Seeing Hank and Gomez is fun, it's implied in BB that Hank and Saul have history (they trade barbs) which makes sense with the number of criminals Saul protects by that point. Just FYI Mesa Verde is offering 18k on top of fair market value for the house, so Mr Acker will be able to buy an equivalent house elsewhere (as his neighbours did). 100% agree with Maple on Kim. We know that Kim grew up dirt poor in a tiny town with no prospects and she managed to escape to a big city AND become a lawyer while working in the mailroom. IMO she should be with someone who uplifts her personally, professionally, romantically etc. But I think there's a part of her that never left that two-bit town, she's still the scared little girl whose toes are turning blue on the cold pavement and Jimmy understands it where none of her peers do. What Acker said was uncalled for but it hurts because there's some truth in it - she's weaponizing her trauma in order to kick an old man out of his family home so a bank can build a call center lol... even if it is his best option.

Small detail that I think you missed, they were offering the man the Market Value of his house + $18,000, not just $18,000. Still shitty, but a mostly fair deal. It's easy to see his side though, I probably wouldn't want to sell either and try to get more, lol.

this episode brings back bad memories of when I used to do criminal defense work, clients would sometimes show up with a bag of cash for my retainer--not sayin' its "money from an illegal or criminal enterprise," but I'm soooo glad I got out of that line of work!! :) Also, a shout out to Hank Schrader, nice to see you and Gomie once again!!!
