Better Call Saul 4x9 | Watch Along

Better Call Saul 4x9 | Watch Along

I think that Jimmy and Kim are both right about their criticisms of the other in that argument. We all know Jimmy's faults but it is Kim's that are really interesting because she does use Jimmy as an excuse to let out a part of herself that she keeps buried. She loves him for a fair few reasons but the reason she sticks with him so much is because he awakens the uninhibited side of her and gives her an excuse to let it out. So he is right that she only wants him around in a certain capacity.

I usually hate indulgent "how did they get their famous cape?" fanservice in prequels, especially for innocuous stuff you don't need to know - like here, you don't *need* to know how Hector gets the bell, just that he obviously gets it at some point. But I really enjoy the show using that moment to help establish Lalo as another sadistic Salamanca, so there's an actual purpose to the story other than "hey! it's that thing I recognise!"

I so love Kim and Jimmy. Rhea and Bob play those characters flawlessly. The nuance in everything they say and do is beautiful.

Rhea Seehorn (Kim) is so fantastic. She has that unique ability to steal every single scene that she is in.

"Jimmy... you are always down." All-timer scene. This is the first time I've rewatched since the end of Succession, reminds me a lot of Tom and Shiv's big blowouts. Totally agree with Arianna, Jimmy doesn't even understand the level to which Chuck is affecting him... Chuck really said "I never cared about you 😊" then self-immolated, he burned more than just his house down, he left permanent structural damage in Jimmy McGill. I love Kai as Red Herring (I wouldn't post this if they hadn't seen 10 already dw), really helps sell the Werner break. I love all the speculation your having, reminds me exactly of the reddit episode discussions during live watch lol. Knowing where (some) characters end up in Breaking Bad makes it so much juicier and imo they thread the needle amazingly in both expected and unexpected ways.

He played a character in Hawkeye on Disney yeah, "Jack" the sword guy. He also played a small recurring role on Sense8 ("Lito's Agent"). I'm very glad that him, Diego Luna and Pedro Pascal are all getting their flowers to varying degrees (Diego on Andor, Pedro on... everything lol man's everywhere).

I watched Better Call Saul again with my mom and she never saw Breaking Bad. It was really interesting to see her connect with Saul more as the main character than Walter. It was also surreal seeing her react to Gus, Mike, and Saul showing up in BB and having all this context to the characters that I never had when I saw the show while it was airing. We basically watched it all in order, leaving El Camino and the last 4 episodes of Saul for last. It was a really cool way to experience the series and I'm a little jealous she got to watch it that way, all at once, with no waiting.

Let's give Bob Odenkirk a golf-clap for that scene of Jimmy projecting all of his self-hatred and inferiority complexes onto Kim. Go to therapy, kids.

Tony Dalton (Lalo) who is originally from Texas if I'm not mistaken, was in the Hawkeye series on Disney+, but this was his first big break in American Television. Prior to BCS, he was in Mexican film and television for many years.
