And I will just say it again, I would have complete understanding if Chuck was simply honest to his brother about his feelings. He helps him get out of jail, then helps him in the mail room, perfect. Then if his brother came asking for a job as a lawyer, he simply said "no, I still don't trust you, make it on your own and you can build that trust back". That would at least be an honorable position to take, even if we feel bad for Jimmy. But he holds him back and lies over and over, and after the lie is found out he tries his hardest to keep Kim from succeeding with Jimmy. Whether or not Chuck is correct on the law is irrelevant to how people feel about Chuck in relation to Jimmy.

2024-11-20 01:19:10 +0000 UTCChuck sucks because he is vindictive and too obsessed with Jimmy. He needed to move and focus on his mental health. But the people rooting for Jimmy are so misguided. Jimmy is just a much worse person, and it is a testament to the writers that people don't see it because Jimmy is so warm and likeable. Up to this point, the show has demonstrated that he is unfit to practice law and we know he will contribute to the Walter White shit-show of death and misery. Jimmy also robbed money from their working-class parents, causing them to lose their family business, which in turn may have contributed to their father's death. CHUCK HAS GOOD REASON TO HATE JIMMY.

2024-11-20 01:10:07 +0000 UTCThe biggest difference between Jimmy and Chuck at this point is the why behind their actions and it is why I like Jimmy but dislike Chuck. Chuck's behaviour stems from a desire to feel superior to others (99% of his interactions exhibit him talking down to others). He derives his self worth from being 'better' than Jimmy. Jimmy's core motivations are to garner respect from his brother/Kim and to help the people he loves (Kim in particular). So while I feel sorry for Chuck, I absolutely don't think he is a good guy.

Jimmy was a good brother without hesitation and he had unconditional love for Chuck and thats pretty much all we see. Chuck is supposed to be this huge authoritarian while Jimmy, well, he becomes Saul. And Chuck himself is a huge piece of that progression.

If Jimmy's at fault for anything, it's enabling Chuck. Chuck should have been more focused on his own problems instead of snatching a client from Kim just to get at Jimmy.

2024-11-19 23:15:33 +0000 UTCUm..... no he's not. 😅 For the most part Blitz is totally right. Being a jealous, mentally ill, and angry brother doesn't make Chuck a bad person. Like huh? Jimmy is the one in the wrong here. Chuck loves and hates Jimmy. They're not mutually exclusive. Jimmy gaslighting hid brother at every turn isn't in any way, justified. It's just wrong. But of course, Jimmy thinks he is justified because Chuck has already wronged him with the earlier sabotage in season 1. But this is a lesson that literally hundreds of pieces of media have taught us, and yet, no one learns the lesson... two wrongs don't make a right, and revenge literally solves nothing. This story isn't a hero and a villain. It's two brothers with serious issues, and they could really afford to spend some real time together talking about those issues instead of building this resentment. Family therapy would've really helped these two 🤣

He resents jimmy for who he is, he hates how everyone just loves jimmy because he’s funny & charming, neither of which come easy to chuck. The one thing he had was being a great lawyer & when jimmy wanted that too he just couldn’t accept it. Jimmy on the other hand has only ever wanted to make chuck proud & gain his acceptance, it’s just sad all around.

He is mentally ill in terms of the electrical thing he says he has but he is totally lucid. Jimmy is so smart because he knows how to manipulate Chuck perfectly and he executes it perfectly which causes Chuck to get triggered and sound unhinged. To someone who knows nothing about their relationship, he does sound crazy. And yet aside from his condition, he isn't. Jimmy did deserve to get disbarred for what he did. All that stuff about Jimmy providing for Chuck. Like yeah, Jimmy loves Chuck so of course he did it for him. Let's also not forget that Jimmy would be rotting for prison if it wasn't for Chuck saving him. Yes Chuck has faults, a lot of them. But Jimmy changing the numbers for the address which caused HHM to lose Mesa Verde was totally illegal and fucked up. We just like Kim so we don't care about it that much. I guess that's the show's brilliance. Someone like Jimmy (Saul), who breaks the law but is very charismatic can get everyones love and we root for him. And yet Jimmy is not a good guy by any stretch of the imagination. Even you guys defending Jimmy for what he became from his experiences growing up but the total opposite for Chuck, even though we see several instances of him and Jimmy. Decades of experience and yet it's totally one sided in support for Jimmy. Let's try and be less hypocritical. Chuck isn't even close to my favourite character in the show but seeing you guys hate him so much is genuinely jarring. Chuck got his cake right? Jimmy got some nice cake too at the end of Breaking Bad too.
