2024-10-13 06:08:07 +0000 UTCThis was the episode that changed everything. You have to remember, HBO was marketing the hell out of this show as if Sean Bean was gonna be THE DUDE. He was the star, he was the go-to name for the series, he was all over the posters. But it was like HBO was saying "we ain't playin around, this show is gonna be WIIIIILD". And they just killed off their main character in the 1st season. It was wild. I think The Walking Dead and this came out at almost the same time. So TV was getting crazy and killing off beloved characters like it was nothing. But yeah, I think Game of Thrones kinda got everyone expecting the brutal gut wrenching death. Like whenever you catch a GOT fan watching LOTR for the 1st time....they're always expecting the worst and it's just adorable.
