I hope there are some future plot points that are intended to be surprises that actually surprise both of you. You guys always catch on before the reveal.

Jimmy was born to be a semi-scummy Hollywood producer during the golden age of film but was unfortunately born in Cicero in 1960, exactly when Wikipedia says that era ended.

Kara

"HEY ITS THE KETTLEMAN'S" 😂🤣😅🤣😂🤣😅

Andrew Clifton

Jimmy really be trying lol. Man I can't wait for the next 2. Your about to be in the thick of it. Also, am I the only one that thinks there is just something about Kim that's 🔥😍lol.

Andrew Clifton

Yeah, definitely agree. The thing with Jimmy that is heartbreaking is that he isn't always his own worst enemy like Walt was. There are often times when we see him try to do the right thing and go down the straight path but other people's perception of him puts him down and doesn't give him a chance.

This episode is the first major sign for people about how Chuck feels about Jimmy. He looks down on him to such a degree that he was willing to go outside with his condition just to prove himself right.

I hate the Kettlemans with a white hot intensity!!! 😡

I read somewhere Rolex watches are the #1 most replicated. Never buy one "cheap" on the internet. It's probably a $50 fake!!!

Chris Bruneau

Kara, Trust me, "You're the kind of lawyer guilty people hire"-- is a great line, but sadly true. Most criminal clients are indeed guilty! They mostly just want the best deal possible --I did criminal defense work for over 15 years

Chris Bruneau

Love to see Jimmy wrestling with his conscious, when he still had one!!!

A theme has been developing in the first few episodes. When Saul was introduced in Breaking Bad season 2 episode 7, he tells his clients to make checks out to “Ice Station Zebra Associates.” This is a reference to a cold-war era military thriller starring Rock Hudson. Jimmy is a film buff. In episode 1 he accurately quotes Ned Beatty’s speech from the 1976 film Network (which you should watch — a great film about the television News industry that turned out to be remarkably prophetic). The courtroom montage in that episode was an homage to a similar montage in Bob Fosse’s 1979 semi-autobiographical film All That Jazz (Also highly recommended). Episode 4 opens with our first real look at Slippin’ Jimmy in his heyday, and again the scene is an homage to the opening scene in 1973’s The Sting (I don’t have to repeat myself, do I?). The con with the fake Rolex plays out very similarly to the con in the movie, which con-men refer to as “The Pigeon Drop.” When Kim calls at one point to invite him to a showing of The Thing, we get that old movies are one of the simple pleasures that tie them together as a couple. Elements of Jimmy’s love of movies (which he shares with series creator Vince Gilligan) show up at the end when he becomes the default director of the scam rescue video. He instinctively knows how to frame and set up the visual story he wants to tell. We will continue to see this part of him show up in the series from here on out.

I also noticed that! very cool lil easter egg

Also wanted to add that in the suit measuring scene, Gus’ light yellow/red tie combo that he wears in the restaurant can be scene on display.

Fun reaction 🥰 "You're the kind of lawyer guilty people hire" this cuts so deep 😭. He literally just want to practice law like his brother but everyone seems to be against him, Hamlin, the Kettlemans, the local system of law that pays just 700 a case. Kim and Chuck are the only people who support him and even Chuck is disappointed/worried. Jimmy is so industrious and the scams are so clever and fun, much like Walter White he could do something really great in another context, if the deck wasn't stacked against him. Kim's little smile after the billboard stunt, like you really gotta hand it to him, he puts on a great show. In the suit measuring scene Jimmy was interested in a garish colorful shirt and tie combo, like the kind he wears as Saul Goodman much later. Lots of foreshadowing in the show, some obvious some subtle.

Kara

I love all the schemes slippin jimmy comes up with. always fun to see them unfold.

Holy episode dump, Batman! Multiple episodes of Saul, Lasso, and GOT (I’m not caught up on Peaky yet) drop at the same time? Well, there goes my day.
