I remembered Nigel Terry well from his role as King Arthur in the film Excalibur. His sword experience was a great plus to these fight scenes; as Gabriel he was believably able to give Duncan a fair workout. I presume their very similar styles are a result of training together in the companion years — when they weren’t busy partying. There are times when fine villainous actors aren’t visually the best of immortal swordsmen as written, especially going up against Adrian Paul.
