Best episode of Season 1 and with the 18 minute single shot, one of the greatest episodes in television history.

2024-01-24 09:07:21 +0000 UTCThe Sufjan needle drop made my heart full. took me way back! Also, I haven't worked in the restaurant industry but I've def worked in extremely fast paced and high-volume environments and the way that this would send me over the edge on the daily. I lasted a year and a half before I burned out. Bless the people who deal with this kind of stuff and basically get paid fuck all for it on top of it being thankless asf.

2024-01-22 03:48:27 +0000 UTC20 mins of discussion you know its a good one 😂 I never worked in food service but I worked live events and people would break down crying in the stairwell. i started smoking just to get 3 mins outside. Love how multi-faceted the characters are. My fav part of the ep is Richie sort of thrives in the chaos, I think it's because he worked for years with drugged up Michael, this shift probably doesn't even crack the top 5 worst shifts he's had in the Beef haha. Same applies to all the older workers, Tina etc. Love Maple saying that Carmy and Sydney complement each other's skillsets, its true. Horrible to watch this ep because you know it can work so well when they're in sync 😔

2024-01-22 00:47:54 +0000 UTCAs a Chicagoan myself, I got a little lump in my throat from this episode. hearing the voice of the DJ from WXRT--the late great Lynn Brehmer, the shots of so many real places I have been to, the music of my youth. Its like a time warp of people and places. Chris Storer, the creator, is from my hometown, and he clearly loves our city so much!

2024-01-21 23:26:54 +0000 UTCSufjan Stevens made the music for Call Me By Your Name! Loved his stuff since then, then hearing his music in The bear was magical

2024-01-21 22:36:02 +0000 UTCIf you were wondering about the black screens in the middle of the episode, this used to be uninterrupted by commercials when it first premiered, because they shot it in one take. But then at some point, Hulu decided to insert commercial breaks, which is disappointing. Still a classic episode, though.
