My take on the wig is simply that Barry is cheap and selfish. Everything that happens in the house seems to be manipulated by Barry. When he gets the groceries he neglects to get a simple blanket to keep his kid warm but buys a book he doesn’t need. No doubt Barry would consider buying one bad wig to be cheaper and equally efficient to hair dye that you’ve got to repurchase every few months. Sally might disagree, but so what? She doesn’t have a voice in this house. I can see where the theories about playing a role make sense for her character, I just don’t think she has enough autonomy in this situation to make that kind of choice.

2023-12-12 18:32:56 +0000 UTCThe Sally wig thing is interesting. Two theories include that she never fully "committed" to the "role of Emily", or that she is still choosing to act/ be an actress every day (playing the character of Emily, getting ready every day in hair + makeup like on stage etc).

2023-12-11 15:42:22 +0000 UTCI think the wig was her pretending that her life is a role, like a play. So she doesn't have to face the fact that her actual daily life is pure horror. Dreading you finishing the show, it's been amazing watching with you guys.
