Edit: whoops, labeled this one wrong!

Also - since Michael defaulted to Adam instead of his true sword/vessel, Dean, doesn't that really give such an edge to Lucifer going into the fight? I know they didn't have another option but I would almost expect Michael or others to grab Dean after he lost Sam to Lucy...seems like Dean might have been down to go out with his Sammy!

CrystalDeth

Both Cas and Sam beat the ever loving life out of Dean so many times over the seasons but at least twice in 5. I do miss the paper parade when Cas leaves and returns throughout this one. The angels were so much scarier and I miss it! He is such a badass in this one especially!

CrystalDeth

Wow. Could you sound more judgmental? And you missed her point anyway—it is in no way about Cas hurting Dean or vice-versa.. no one wants that—it is the passion and caring between them that is very evidenced in this moment. And she said “talk about erotic” not when Cas was hitting Dean anyway—it was when Cas had him pressed up against a wall. And yeah.. that can definitely be erotic lol.

BunkerGirl

This is a great episode and a great rewatch, but calling someone beating someone up erotic is just disturbing. Why do all Destiel shippers want Dean and Cas to hurt each other? Y'all have a weird idea of relationships.

Poor Adam. Only remember briefly by Dean in S6E11, and by the girls in the musical S10E5.

At least 'the Hillywood Show' remembered him. LOL

Yes Michael is still in the cage with Lucifer. Michael Lucifer and Adam all locked in the cage.

Daniel Lewis

LOL, such a trip your comments, thanks for that ...

The episode is so iconic from the writer of free to be you & me & our current show runner Jeremy carver, iconic line #1: Sam: "trust me, The one thing worse than seeing dad once a year was seeing him all year" no comments needs to be said after that really. Both lucifer & Michael jumped in the pit so they're both in the cage. Kripke's og plan was Michael in dean's body vs lucifer in sam's body & they both jump in the pit sacrificing themselves to save the world which might not be perfect for some people but i personally would've loved that, such a heroic & loving way to go, together, saving the world. But they got renewed because we'll network tv so Adam it is. I have lost count of the number of times dean was suicidal/ not giving a shit about his own life on this show, from the beginning, 1x12 faith, 2x09 croatoan & so many more episodes/seasons. 😭. I love the shot you mentioned so much too, the one where dean is sitting & cas is behind him staring at him fuming, if looks could kill 😂, i love it coz it makes it look like cas is on dean's shoulder, the angel on your shoulder shot, brilliant choice from Philip Sgriccia as per usual, he was an amazing director. It's so sweet that when bobby asked Sam how's dean & Sam didn't reply cas immediately went to check up on dean in the panic room even though he knows he's physically okay, he wanted to make sure he's emotionally okay, he wanted to talk to him 😭. Cas is so badass 🥵, my interpretation on why dean is heavily flirting with cas this episode is that he's trying to push people away, we saw him doing it to bobby with the you're not my father line, we saw him doing to Sam with the i don't believe in you line, so he's using specific words that he knows will hurt them coz he knows them, so treating cas as nothing more than a one night stand is meant to hurt him, coz that's not at all all he is to him, he doesn't see him as just a good lay, there's so much more between them to ever be reduced to just that so this hurts cas & makes him even more mad. Part of it could also be well, last night on earth for me, i might as well say/do what i always wanted to say/do, Poor cas was so confused when he said that like are we flirting, are we fighting, what's going on? Just in case he's serious, i am gonna look back even harder 😂, he was probably inspired by dean's flirting fighting technique in their fight in the ally 😂, like i am gonna beat the shit out of you but i am gonna be super close just in case you decided to kiss instead coz you're giving all kinds of mixed signals right now 😂🤦🏻‍♀️. Reminds me of mark Spector saying are we dancing or are we fighting in the previous episode of moon knight lol.

I love Sam in this episode so much. His refusal to give up on Dean and his steadiness shows how much he's grown since season 4. Also, the whole scene where Dean changes his mind about saying yes and takes out Zach is so great. A total triumph. I would hate to be the Adam in a sibling dynamic that included Sam and Dean. When push comes to shove, it’s not that he's the third wheel so much as a different bike altogether, poor kid. Cas's anger in this episode is super understandable considering how much he’s given up to back the Winchesters. Love this episode! Thanks for the rewatch, Shelly!

To see where we were at this point, how far we still have to go and all that's left to be done. An amazing episode for sure, better than the finale for me. My favorite part is in the beginning when Sam says "please" to Dean. He doesn't have anything more than trying to just appeal to him with "please" but it gets me every time. With all that he had done I think Sam knew pushing him wouldn't work. He wasn't hard on Dean, he just tried to get through to him the way Dean did to him in Sn 4. I love Sam so much. As for Cas, did he love Dean at this point, I say yes. You couldn't be that mad at someone you didn't care about. I had never seen him so upset and show so much emotion before. He was all in by then. And I know he was angry about giving up everything in heaven. But damn he gave up heaven for the boys and their fight because he believed. I think he literally wanted to knock some sense into him. As for Dean I don't blame him for feeling so defeated here. Knowing how he takes the guilt of the world onto his shoulders; he knew if Lucifer won it was his fault. It was so hard seeing him so low because he's always so strong. He's the leader of Team Free Will and how was he going to save everyone. Just that Dean Winchester move and sacrifice himself for the greater good. Such a hero and he still thinks he's not worthy. What a great rewatch. I hope sometime we can get a few more of these because they are so much fun.

Brenda Lewis

I dont think she have, at least not reacted to it Ps: I see what you did there 😉

I love this episode so much, but it hurts my heart to watch the eps so far out of sequence. So I'll return to this rewatch when I rewatch the series for the 7th(?) time. 😉

Question: has Shelley watched the 100th episode party? I think they mentioned in there that they had the party right before the filming of this episode. They've got Jensen and Bob Singer looking like the Blues Brothers, singing with the Impalas (I think that's the band's name if I am not wrong - the filming crews' band). My thinky thoughts when watching Shelley rewatch this episode -- -The cold open - huh ... I just now only realized that Zach got a new instruction from Mikey to go ahead to get Adam. - Before Arya Stark made the move of switching hands that hold the blade and then jabbing the enemy, Cas did it first - Dean "flirting" with Cas - Shelley, you should rewatch the gag reel for this episode again for this season. And Jensen, what even are you doing making that gesture on camera and signing off for it to be used (and people said he is uncomfortable with Destiel ... smh) - this is the 100th episode, Jeremy Carver did give us a nod to Wincest and Destiel (i.e. the erotically codependency remark of Zach's and Dean's winking and provoking a clueless Cas by making sexual jokes) - Bobby's "shall I say it in Spanish" gave me a snort and a laugh, considering recent events of .... well, (SPOILERS) I supposed we know what events that I am talking about - and Cas bringing back Dean to Bobby's place after their fight - again re the gag reel, Jensen's "where's the gay angel" and Misha's retort to him "you mean, gay, as in happy, right?" ... and Jensen's response "yeah, happy" and proceed to look at the camera over his shoulder. ... and at 30 min in real-life pressing issues need my attention .. *sigh* don't know if when I can continue afterward, we'll see ...

You really didn't notice that Michael's in the Cage, they said it a lot, especially back in S6 when Raphael and Cas took over heaven due to it no longer having a ruler. Zachariah was a perfect piece of garbage, love to watch him talk, love to watch him die.

Kyle

I think maybe it is more making Cas mad because Cas does not understand human emotions well. Throwing him off using jokes and fake flirting would be hell.

Christopher simeon

Yes, Michael is in the cage with Lucifer and Adam (and Sam’s soul for half of the season 6)

So I saw a post once that brought a great idea regarding Dean and Cas’ interactions in this episode. Basically the main points were: — in this episode, Dean is trying to push Bobby, Sam and Cas away, for whatever reason- whether it’s so that they’ll be more willing to let him say yes to Micheal or something else, probably to do with his suicidal ideation in the episode. — so the way he attempts to push Bobby away is by saying that he isn’t his father, even though we know and have seen that dean considers him to be a father (one of many examples is in 4x1 “you’re about the closest thing I have to a father”). — the way we see him push Sam away (even though I think there is a layer of truth to his words here, as in he does kinda believe what he’s saying, but maybe not down to a fundamental level) is by saying he doesn’t believe in/trust Sam to be able to do the right thing — so the interesting part is how does dean push cas away this episode? Well, what this post proposed is that dean has an idea about cas’ attraction to/feelings for him and attempts to push cas away by mocking him about it, and he does this by flirting with cas (“blow me, cas” and “last person who looked at me like that, I got laid *wink*”). I just thought this is such an interesting interpretation so I thought I’d share. Personally I think it’s probably a bit of this, and maybe a bit of dean thinking something like ‘well I’m gonna die today so I may as well do what I’ve always wanted to do— flirt with cas.’

Kit

Man, the opening scene will always have me smiling ear to ear. Miss you Zachariah! You were fun to hate.

and now I have Huey Lewis's song in my head lol

I know, I was like 'again?!' I mean I know she loves the episode lol

The funny thing is that they did defeated the devil with the power of love

Hey Shelley! You labelled this one wrong. I thought it was a little strange you were doing a fan fiction rewatch again. 😄 Can't wait to watch this one!
