Kripke did leave the show after s5. Sara Gamble took over his position. He is listed as an executive consultant after that. He was in no way involved with the storylines/scripts after that. Even one as big as the series finale—Kripke did not even know how it was going to go down until Jensen called him after Jensen got the script and wanted to talk it over w him to see what he thought about it. At kripke’s request.. Jensen sent him the pages to read. This alone supports that kripke was no longer in the loop, he wasn’t consulted about how the series ending was going to go down, and the route the writers/producers chose for that etc, and only found out because jensen wanted to talk to him about it.

2022-08-31 01:11:45 +0000 UTCI completely agree. I don't think there's necessarily anything wrong with shipping in fan culture, but it definitely can get out of hand (especially in this case). It's frustrating any time anyone tries to force a particular sexuality onto another person or character (regardless of which one it is). It's kind of sad too because I think the show was trying to "acknowledge" those shippers and tell them "it's okay that you exist" and because of that acknowledgement people say that the show "queer-baited" which doesn't really work here I don't think. People just wanted something to be true so much that they saw it everywhere when it wasn't.

He just wasn't calling all the shots anymore, which is why the only people who think the first five seasons are it are the ones who never understood any of it in the first place. It remained Kripke's baby and was driven by his vision. All your questions about Chuck will be answered.

Destiel shippers project all that nonsense onto him, There is nothing about liking or disliking musicals that would be threatening to his masculinity and this episode was written by a gay writer who has never portrayed Dean as homophobic or confused about his identity. One of my biggest objections to Destiel is that it so enthusiastically supports toxic masculinity, claiming Dean cannot be straight, because he sometimes cries and straight men don't cry or because he likes music and chick flicks and straight men are not allowed to like those things. More than one Destiel shipper has told me Dean is "coded" as gay and when I asked them to explain, they gave a list of the most offensive and homophobic stereotypes I have ever heard. Dean dislikes musicals because he is a rock fan and considers them frivolous. I relate to him a lot because that is how I feel about Disney songs.

For me, it was the reaction to What Is and What Should Never Be (a Zeppelin song apparently!) when I gave in and thought "I need to see the whole thing." Hands down best reactor, Shelley: the only one from which I've watched more than 1/2 a reaction and the only reason I joined Patreon. Congrats on 300!! Well deserved. p.s. 2022-03-29 23:00:27 +0000 UTCOne thing I haven’t seen mentioned above, is that Kripke has said the role of Chuck was pretty much an insertion of himself as the writer. It was said in relation to season 4/5 since he doesn’t really talk about later seasons of the show, but to me it seems to apply here too, like he is giving a blessing on the continuation of the story. I liked how you said all the following showrunners are basically fanfic creators themselves. So true. The only difference is they get paid for it!!

2022-03-28 17:49:21 +0000 UTCcongrats on 300 patreons, you deserve it & so much more, you're the best SPN reactor i have watched, i considered you a fandom friend from the beginning, i never related to anyone more than when you said that you think about this fucking show all the time, it's truly all consuming & it has consumed my life & i am not even sorry, lol, The event of the first scene in the play taking place before dark side of the moon doesn't mean it's a prequel, dark side of the moon is 5x16, so it could be anytime before that episode, it's the episode where dean threw the samulate in the trash, so before it dean always wore the samulate, the girl is just looking out for continuity, good job, marie, there's a blink & you'll miss it moment when they were fixing everyone's clothes right when dean is about to give them his motivational speech where dean fixes cas's actress's tie to make it inside out like cas used to have it, that's so endearing to me for some reason, this episode actually did pretty well, 9.5/10 on IMDb & is the 4th favorite episode of the entire show according to imdb, yeah meta has always been a big part of supernatural even in kripke's era, you have ghostfacers where we get to see how Sam & dean will act if the show wasn't on network tv, they would swear a lot, we have 2x18 Hollywood Babylon where we get to go meta & see BTS of Hollywood, in 4x18 the monster at the end of the book they introduce chuck & the books, 5x05 fallen idols was a little meta too, 5x09 the real Ghostbusters Sam & dean attend a supernatural convention, come on, what's more meta than that, 5x08 changing channels is meta for the whole tv industry, jumping from show to show, 6x15 the french mistake, the meta to end all metas where they kill kripke, supernatural has always been like this thanks to kripke himself, they all are just following his footsteps, when you said that only cas's track gets excluded from the official soundtracks being the ultimate meta for the show i screamed yeeeeeeees, truly, the fact that they didn't care to include Misha at all in that episode is just...., Anyway, i know i say this a lot recently but i agree with everything u said here, i love that Sam song about dean always hiding behind a mask, i feel you, Sammy, dean always lies about things he likes if it makes him looks less "manly" in his opinion & i just wanna shake him sometimes, you can like things! It doesn't make you any less of a man, if manhood is being a being without joy or hobbies, i don't know why anyone would wanna be a man, it's very funny that they had no issue saying that the dean & cas actors are a couple irl but dance around destiel lol, i wish we saw more of the play exploring destiel in act 2, oh well, we're living act 2 in the show, so i will take that, you remember correctly "we got work to do" was from 2x22 all hell break loose || but it was also said by sam in the last shot of the pilot, i love that dean is taking a bow with them & greeting the crowd at the end, he's enjoying being on stage, great reaction, can't wait for the rest of this wonderful journey

I look at Supernatural in 3 chapters 1-5, 6-9, 10-15. But I love also Destiel, Winecster shippers, and those who read their own interpretations into the story. I love reading the comments to see what we all thought about the story, and I have really gotten some unique perspectives I never had before because I am such a canonist. It's just so much fun seeing other people talk about their perspective of a show we can all agree is just THE best tv show EVER. And big congrats on 300. Shelly your channel is great. You post regular, great discussion and I enjoy watching so much!

You analyse and dive deeper into the characters and plot in ways no other reactor has and point things out that i never considered when watching the show. 2022-03-28 09:03:01 +0000 UTC🤡 this is me, thinking I would be able to wait to watch the reaction 🤡 You know, I was in for the reaction but stayed for the in depth analysis, the way you see the show and the connections you make are always mind blowing and since I saw this show in a binge back in 2020 and was in a rush to caught up before the final ep, I missed a ton of lots so in a very clear way, sometimes I feel like Im watching the show for the first time with your reactions so Im always excited for the next ep reaction as if it was the first time Im watching it On a side note, and as a personal experience, you’re totally right, watching the show without the cons and bts stuff its missing something and Im glad you started with the tier and that you trust us to show you that side of the show its really awesome. Btw, I noticed that must of things aline for you to make your experience of the show (and the reactions for what matters) way richer, like watching stairway to heaven the same day you have your schedule to watch the man who would be king, or a little slide of kevin and so and so, its like your super power and can’t wait in which way it can go from here Anyway, love the rewatch, definitely watching this show with very different eyes, cause before this I was just watching with a smile, laughing and just going with it, but now, lots to think about, specially the level of meta that this might have, awesome work Shelley, and congrats again for subs hope it keeps growing 🥳

There are so many other people out there that react to supernatural and I think you are by far the best because A. You genuinely love the show and the characters and therefore put a lot of care into your reactions, B. You actually look at the deeper meanings and the motives and hidden parallels that not many reactors ever pick up on or talk about, and you analyse the titles which I’ve never seen a reacter do before, C. It’s amazing getting to see you fall in love with supernatural and its cast members, and I think it’s amazing that you do reactions to videos about the cast or the making of supernatural (which I’ve never seen a reactor do before), D. You do stuff like this! Giving us rewatches and extra content and I love it all, E. (this is probably a more personal thing that I like about you) you’re a dean girl and are not afraid to ship destiel (and you’re respectful about it by giving people who don’t ship it a fair warning), and finally F.
