I think the fact that you don't see Hook as a bad boy was a point. Because him and Regina had so many comparisons. A couple of the most ardent things against Regina and Emma being together as she was too cruel and had done too much for Emma so they kind of whitewashed Hook. He wore rings of people he killed and was kind of creepy with women. Both Regina and Hook killed one of Emma's grandparents. But, people turned on Regina when they saw she massacred a village. So, they toned down Hook who had been a pirate for over a hundred years. I never bought CaptainSwan. Emma progressively during their love story got weaker and weaker. She was looking for er family and she just kind of let Hook run all over her and do what he wanted. He never changed, he consistently lied to her. Henry barely tolerated him. I didn't get it when I binged watched it in 2018 and didn't even look at social media. Emma was the strong princess we rooted for and all it took was a "man" to break down her walls and fall into place. Unpopular opinion.

lol ur disinterest in captainswan and charming is SO relatable for some of us. Regardless, i still thought this was a decent episode- theyre not my favs but it was a nice vehicle to bring back some old faces. Felt like an old OUAT episode, with core relationships taking the wheel the again. Plus im glad josh dallas got to give us more of what he can do as an actor.
