Love your reaction once again. I never tired of watching this episode. Gabriel is such a good character! Now you can enjoy rewatching his previous episodes with a new perspective. As for the Sam of it all: the idea isn't to put blame on him for his parents'death - he's not responsible because he didn't chose to be born or not - but, in a very matter of facts way, due to the domino effect, if he hadn't been born then yes, John and Mary wouldn't have die the way they did and might not have died at all (well, until later at least) : Azazel wouldn't have come to their house, thus Mary wouldn't have interrupted him and died as a consequence, John then wouldn't have had any reason to become a hunter and to raise Dean and Sam as hunters, they wouldn't have been the targets of Azazel and of his demons, there wouldn't have been a car accident, Dean wouldn't have been dying and John wouldn't have made the deal with Azazel. But it's interesting to ponder, knowing now that Gabriel always knew that Sam is Lucifer's vessel, if he didn't screw more with him because he has a bit more ressentment towards Lucifer than Michael. My headcanon is that he was closer to Lucifer and him being banished to Hell because of his actions hurt Gabriel the hardest. I'm really curious to know what happened to Cas too. Wich made me think of all the God searching adventures he's going on out of screen. It would have been cool to have it referenced more precisely once in a while. And I'm sad we didn't have more time to explore his reaction to finding out his brother was alive and on Earth. Dean and Sam are not very polite, leaving without so much as a goodbye to him.

i definitely couldn't handle every episode drunk lol, but you guys can totally suggest episodes where it might be a good idea. :)

Shelley

i'm glad to hear this helped! i know when i get there, i'm gonna be a mess too *hugs*

Shelley

thanks for all these tidbits! love reading the back story to this episode in particular :)

Shelley

ahh sneaky indeed! love that

Drinking for this episode certainly made it even more fun for you and for us! Good choice of episode to do that. Would it be good for every episode? Only you can answer that. I would worry for you if it was an emotional episode where the boys are crying. Would drinking hurt or help you through that? With that being said, the next episode is one where a drink would be fun. I saved this to not watch until now. I have been watching and people’s reactions to the series finale and being on social media, I mostly have my head around the finale now and enjoyed watching this with you, This is episode is truly one of my favorites ❤️ And it was good you clarified you are a medical coder because I know my first thought was ooh tmi. 😂

You are so much fun as a tipsy reactor! I love all your reactions, though. Thank you for being there for us today...of all days.

Vel

She really did. I didn't think anything was going to work...but then Shelley rescued us! Bless.

I saved this reaction for now, after the trauma that was the series finale last night. It was so good to watch my favorite reactor catch the Ellen Pompeo reference. And it was great fun to see the Jeffrey Dean Morgan moment hit you. 😂 I LOVE drunk Shelley! I’m still traumatized, but you helped me climb out of that emotional pit. Thank you! ❤️

Between this episode and the last one I feel so sorry for Sam's crotch. I bet you'll never be able to hear the phrase 'genital herpes' again without laughing.

It's not Sam's Fault, but if he wasn't born his parents wouldn't have died. Azazel would have no reason to come on November 2, 1983 and kill Mary. John would not have become a hunter.

Great episode. Hilarious episode. Great revelations at the end. Poor Sam, though. Dean's the one who's known for sleeping around with women, but Sam gets all the sex diseases (and a nut cracker to boot).

YES, we have arrived at THE episode! Changing Channels is such a fan favorite, they rated it the second-highest on the IMDB for the series. I loved that you get all the tv shows that they are lampooning and their references. Some additional tidbits: CSI and Grey’s Anatomy were chosen because they are Supernatural’s timeslot competitions. They are such monster hits and SPN is the Japanese businessman cowering beneath Godzilla and Mothra, Eric Kripke said. “We're just trying to dodge debris. So it felt right to take out a slingshot and take a few shots at those shows.” Knight Rider was chosen as he loved the show as a kid in which cars were characters. You mentioned Dean as David Hasselhoff in the Knight Rider’s portion, not sure whether you remember that in All Hell Break Lose P1 Dean signed himself as D.Hasselholf, and Andy used the receipt to contact Dean. The music in Grey’s Anatomy’s portion was done by the same person who worked on GA, that was why the mood music was so on point. They share the same music supervisor, Alexandra Patsavas. And the absurd medical cases are hilarious (face transplant, wut?). Kudos to you for also getting that Johnny Drake is parodying Jeffrey Dean Morgan aka Denny Duquette, who was also a “ghost” in Izzy’s mind. Sam’s “This show has ghost? Why?” is forever funny as he is referring to his father as the ghost lol. Also another SPN/GA connection, Jensen had played the boyfriend of Patrick Dempsey, aka McDreamy, in another movie, Blonde. By the way, I think the sandwich in the sitcom is referencing Scooby Do, and I hope one day Dean would be able to have a bigger mouth to enjoy it, it looked delicious. In the CSI Miami portion, I so enjoyed that they throwing shade at David Caruso, his one-liners, and then exiting the screen/camera lens because that was the reason I cannot get into that series, it was so fake and cringy. And Jensen mocking David Caruso in a convention, how he envies the latter’s paycheck even though he’s not that talented. In the game show portion and the commercial, Jensen had talked about how he was so happy that this time, Sam is the one getting all the hits because in prior episodes normally Dean was the one they are poking fun at. Also, Jared talked about being so nervous about the giant pin that is the nutcracker, he put a cup on there. And Jensen speaking Japanese words that were fed to him by the game show host actor himself. I so loved the Trickster reveal as Gabriel, that is how you do a retcon, it doesn't conflict with any previous canon. In fact, I find that it only enhances the story, makes it even more interesting. Previous questions of why is he so personally invested in the Winchesters? Why does he care? This helps fill in that gap. Why he wants Sam to accept Dean’s death in Mystery Spot, and not be consumed with revenge as it will lead to the apocolypse. And lastly, why Sam and Dean are always The Chosen Siblings that have to fight each other will be reveal all in good time.

Fun fact: J2 said that shooting riding double bike was one the hardest things they did! ;)

Ah ha! One of my favourite episodes of all time here. Can remember watching this for the first time when I was like 11 and laughing my ass off at the Nutcracker scene, but yeah. One hell of a revelation in Gabriel. And when you think about it, when we first met him in Tall Tales, they had done the Houses of the Holy episode before that on the existence of angels. So that's kinda sneaky

I WAS WAITING FOR THIS!!!! This is one of my all time favorite Supernatural episodes, and I couldn't wait to see you react to it! After all, Gabriel is my favorite character ever. I loved him as the Trickster, I love him even more knowing who he really is. You managed to get all of the references to he different TV shows, including the Denny Duquette reference on Grey's Anatomy, and I love that. That was definitely a pretty meta moment, just like when they were in Hollywood and they mentioned Gilmore Girls. The best part of it all, however, is not the funny part, but the serious part. Because in this episode we understand why the Trickster did what he did in Mystery Spot. That was indeed his way to show Sam that revenge against Lilith wasn't the answer, to teach him a lesson so that he wouldn't do anything stupid that would end up in freeing Lucifer. Because after all Gabriel doesn't want to see his brothers fight, that's pretty obvious now, and now that Lucifer is out he just wants the fight to be quickly over with. He hates the fighting, that's the reason why he left Heaven in the first place, but this episode shows how much this entire situation is affecting him, so his reasoning is understandable in this situation. Regarding the "yes" answer that Dean gave on the quiz show, I don't think you should be so sad about it. After all, I've always considered it a fact. No Sam means that Mary doesn't die, so John never becomes a hunter, and they're never involved with Azazel, and they have a normal life. Mary would still be alive because her deal with Azazel was for access to her child, not for her life. The questions that Sam and Dean received in the quiz show were pretty much horrible things against each other because that's Gabriel's sense of humor, but it doesn't make them any less true. And after all they don't speak Japanese, so they don't have the slightest idea of what the questions actually were, so they're still okay. All in all, I loved your reaction and I can't wait to see the next ones.
