Comparing Ruby to Casey is entirely different since I don't think Dean was ever planning on doing anything but kill a demon. Being trapped while waiting on help, Casey is doing what demons do - they manipulate. We are actually provided some new insights for demons since the fighting was paused, praised his sacrifice, even sympathized about hell but they all own up to that fact that lying is what demons do. Heck, Ruby says it many times as do others in the past and future. Still, if you just look at how both brothers reacted to their respective 'demon friend' situations...it's really murky. Back in Sin City, Dean barely got a couple of words in before Sam straight up shot Casey. Whereas here we see Dean pointing the gun at Ruby who he knows is a demon that just powered down Baby, is telling his brother what to do, belittling them both and when he fires - Sam grabs his hand and the shot goes awry. That is the scary part since she already has them turning against each other plus adding more secrets.

Like the rug had been ripped out from under me. I did not want my boy going to Hell and losing his soul. We still had a good while to go before the end of the season (this was before the writer's strike), so I was hoping another solution would come up soon. Bobby's good, maybe he'll find something. Or maybe Ruby can help find whoever has Dean's deal.
