Experimentation with Hand Drawn Resonance Movements + Improvised Fundamental Pitch

I have been doing a bit more voice modeling lately. I don't do it with any fancy algorithms or software. I just use a saw oscillator, noise oscillator, basic ASDR envelope, pre-filter filter for spectral tilt, vocal tract resonance with a slight fundamental boost for proximity, R1, R2, R3, R4, and a subtle anti-resonance which only matters for like 2 of the sounds, and some subtle room reverb. Doesn't sound too bad actually. There are a few weird spots in the resonance track relationships I made--BUTTT, I came up with a way better system for me to organize key values. This will allow me to manually construct vowels much easier and smoothly transition between them.

Pretty happy with how R-coloring turned out in this. Sometimes you really hear "ear" and "ure". Some consonant modeling has given me trouble but I think I found a solution tonight for myself.  I could probably use some fancy software but I want to be able to create it by hand from nothing. In this I have 5 automation tracks: R1, R2, R3, R4, AR which are automated to form specific vowel pentads mostly based on the ratio of R1:R2:AR:R3:R4. The position of the  natural anti resonance is hard to track in all sounds but it seems R3 falling below it is crucial to forming the perception of R-colored sounds. More experiments to be done on capturing anti-resonance. There are two other key anti resonances in the voice I have noticed in spectral imaging on my white noise impulses to measure resonance (see the attachment). It appears primary resonances have sharp cut offs after their peaks. It's hard to manually track that with anti resonances and sometimes it is not normal in areas where the node "flips". >.< im rambling

Anyways, I have long used voice models to practice alongside or to demonstration complex topics to my students but I'm looking to expand utilization of voice modeling to help people find their desired speaking configuration through better ear training, option selection, and mimicry.

Enjoy <3
