Office Complex Facts

first i would like to welcome all new members and i want to thank everyone for supporting this project you guys are amazing.

i'll be sharing more than one of these so lets start with the magnum 357 and why it was used instead of the shotgun in office complex everyone got thier own theory and sure thats how it was portrayed in earlier versions of Black Mesa but the fact is it would've been almost impossible to realistically animate gordon making that walkthrough using the shotgun while still obtaining his crowbar barehanded so the best option was to maintain a weapon in each hand for in the future episodes the shotgun and other weapons can be obtained while keeping the crowbar using military molle and gun straps and other gadgets.

Well, that's why Valve rejected practically every adaptation proposal Hollywood made, even that dabbler Uwe Boll tried but was quickly turned down lol. As for the fact that Freeman doesn't speak at first, at least for the first episode, that can be easily justified from a directing point of view by Freeman's laconic personality. For the rest, I think Animux must have a very precise plan for the evolution of Freeman's character, and we just have to wait and trust him. And if Animux ever decides to do Blue Shift and Opposing Force as well in the futur, I'm pretty sure we'll get Barney to speak - in fact, if you watch the first episode of the Half Life serie, during the brief moment when Barney appears, he does speak. But for Shepard in a Opposing Force adaptation, mystery because Shepard is a bit like Freeman in that we don't know enough about his personality to know how he'd express himself and whether he'd be laconic like Freeman or expressive like Barney or even a mix of the two. But we're not there yet, so all we can do is speculate until the next episode.

I get it, half life is not a game that could be easily transformed into a movie without major changes. The obvious would be not the talking but the weapons. In game those appear and disappear, in movie that would look very odd. I’m just paying attention to the fact that it would be easily accepted if he talked (even just a little, a word here and there) from the beginning. But because making each episode have this huge time gaps, changes is bound to happen. I’m not a creator, but when I’ve tried to create something, the more time it took to do the more it transformed into something that looked far from initial idea.

And if you'll allow me, I'd like to add that what Animux is doing is an adaptation, so it's transposing its vision of Half Life and Gordon Freeman, so if it decides that his Gordon Freeman should speak, then its Gordon Freeman will speak, and let's be honest, an entire series with a Gordon Freeman who doesn't utter a single word in terms of adaptation isn't sustainable in the long term. And I'd like to finish by saying that Valve never said that Gordon Freeman was mute. If they left him mute, it's because they didn't want us to be fully Gordon Freeman, but they never said that Gordon Freeman was mute, and it's the same for Adrian Shepard and Barney Calhoun. I apologize if my reasoning was too long.

In episode 2 we hear him shout no when the elevator with the scientists in it falls, so in episode 2 he was already talking. Personally, I see Gordon as a rather laconic person, who only speaks when it's really necessary, and always in short sentences that get straight to the point without unnecessary filler.

Alexandre Dominguez

yes, I understand that, but in first 2 videos we had a lot of situations where he could say a word or two, he didn’t, so there were an understanding that this is how it’s going to be in future videos, but in third video we have this, that raises a question, why he didn’t talk earlier? but hey, it’s all good, I get that this is just some half-life fan work, and should not be judged too harshly.

I think it's more natural and believable for Gordon to speak. I see him as a man of few words but not an actual mute. I think Animux has done a good job slipping in the odd line from him here or there. I'd have done more myself, but it's not my project and I think making Gordon talk is bound to be controversial to many people.

God only knows how much I'm looking forward to the sequel, even if technically I know what's going to happen next, since I've already played Half Life and Black Mesa lol, but I have to say that since the first episode I feel like I'm rediscovering Half Life, a bit like the first time I played it, and this is great.

regarding your question i hope i will able to do so depends the time of work

I admit I was one of those who thought that Gordon's retrieval of the magnum was a tribute to the mod version of Black Mesa, but now that you've given us the real reason, you've just proved that you're a genius at storytelling and adaptation, which makes me even more eager to see what happens next, especially when Gordon is confronted by the HECU marines. All in all, an excellent first part to episode 2.5 of the episode (but technically the curse of the number 3 is still lifted HOURRAH) and I can't wait for part 2 to see how you handle the appearance of the GMan at the end of the Chapter, given that technically it's the first face-to-face between him and Gordon (even if there's a door between the two) I also liked the references to Freeman Chronicles (it reminded me of my high school years) and especially the fact that Gordon speaks at the end to say his name besides the genius of the thing just the homage is excellent. As for the security guard, it's true that his voice lacks a bit of emotion, but as someone else would say, that's just a point of detail. As for the rest, well, it was perfect and we can't wait to see what happens next, but take your time, you've more than earned a rest and a breather. A quick question about the next episodes: will they be in 4K? Because I think we'd gain in image quality and clearly this series is worthy of 4K (and also of a TV broadcast).

I think bigger concern would be, that Gordon is taking now 😀, but sure, missing shotgun was noticed too.
