I wanted this playlist to follow along the storyline I have coming for the Summer Love series. You'll see that I have some beach inspired songs, some matsuri (summer festival) and fireworks inspired songs, and a few others that are inspired by the excitement and suspense (and also stress) of falling in love. 💖

I guess now that I think about it, it's like a soundtrack to a drama series😆

There are a few reasons why I picked these songs to be on the playlist.

A lot of these songs take me back to when I was little and I'd listen to many of these songs on repeat. I had the Wham! CD and would listen to that all the time during summer vacation. The same with Beach Boys as well. Wham!'s songs were also used often for commercials during summer vacation (especially for beer) which is why their songs sound like summer to me.

I remember one summer having sleepovers with my cousin and playing Go Go Summer and dancing to it all night long😆 Recently, she stayed at my house again and as soon as I played this song, we started singing and dancing. It always brings good memories to me😊

For many of the songs, they hold a lot of cultural significance. For example, the song by Dreams Come True is very well known, and their music is often played at fireworks festivals. As well as La La Love Song, it's maybe the most well known song in the last 30 years.

Also, how could I make a summer playlist without Yumin, most Japanese people know her songs. She has made the soundtracks of many Japanese people's summers and love stories💕.
