Installing GuliKit Hall Sensing Replacement Joy-Con Sticks

Hey everyone, Coury here. I shot and edited this videolog where I installed the GuliKit replacement joy-cons right before I went down with COVID. I totally forgot about it. So, here it is - unceremoniously delivered to you after 8pm eastern time, several weeks after the fact.  It doesn't go all that smoothly for me and I'm a mess in this video... but whatever. Enjoy? Maybe?

So looking at the end with your striped screw issue, if your comfortable with it you could use a slightly oversized torx bit, hammer it into the screw forcing it to bite into the remaining bit of metal of the screwhead and then back it out that way then replace the screw. I'd just recommend getting some sort of support for the joycon so you don't damage the analogue stick if you go that route ๐Ÿ™‚ I honestly hate those screws in the joycon controllers, they are pretty cheap, they might as well be made of chalk ..... or cheese.

I was thinking the entire time after the first replacement that you werenโ€™t doing the calibration. However, that issue seemed more than just lack of calibration. Guess weโ€™ll never know. Enjoyed the concept of the video though and it was well done.

So, you did this right before you got COVID, so that was a few weeks ago? Did you leave in the stick that worked and how much have you used it since? Are you going to leave it in? Also, did you try to get a new one sent to you to replace the broken one? If so, how difficult was that?
