TRAINING MODE PROGRESS, NEXT PLAYTEST, AND MORE

hello patrons!

the next playtest will begin on may 3rd and will run for one week!

pluto here to give you a short update, just to keep everyone in the loop about what we've been working on!

for myself, my attention is still focused on finishing content for a trailer. we've decided that the trailer for the game will reveal every character in the base roster, simply because one massive trailer is less work than making reveal trailers for everyone, and the wait between the trailer and release should hopefully only be a few months. this also allows me to start streaming/showcasing what i'm working on more frequently, because most of the stuff i've made has been spoiler content, and i'm tired of not being able to show you guys progress.

plague has been hard at work on training mode. you can get a brief overview in the video (the menus and ui are still a work in progress), but we've got our hitboxes and DI angles, the ability to set damage for yourself and the CPU, toggling infinite impact so you can practice combos easier, and more! you can also switch characters and change the CPU's character seamlessly without leaving training mode, which is great for testing combos on different weight/fall speed classes.

in the coming weeks, he'll implement more CPU behaviors, save/load states, and a few more features in order to get training mode to a semi-finished product. we may not have everything finished by the playtest, but progress has been great so far, and you'll be able to test out everything we get done. everyone say thank you plague!

for those not in the discord, i've revealed that i reached out to zhu, the creator of xiao xiao, to ask permission to include him in stickfigurez. so far i haven't heard back, but as soon as i do, i'll make another update! if he says yes, xiao xiao will be character #9 and will not replace anyone in the base roster. he was a character i worked on a lot at the beginning of development to learn the engine/make a basic character, so if zhu says yes, there's very little work left to get him to be playable. everyone cross your fingers for a reply soon!

one final trailer thought: i was hoping to finish the trailer to try to get it shown at kagaribi next weekend, but there's just too much to complete, and i'd like to have some animated scenes as well, so i am once again deciding to just take my time and finish at a reasonable pace instead of trying to relentlessly grind and stress myself out.
