Progress Report 12/31/2021

It's the last day of the year! More importantly, it's the last Friday! Let's end it off with a bang, shall we? Here's what I got done this week:

• Paused the player, feet, floor, and obstacles when the player gets crushed (keeps people running and animations playing)
• Made a (mostly) functional death menu for when the player gets crushed
• Fixed a bug in which reloading the scene causes both feet to walk up at the same time regardless of state, and never return from below
• Disabled the pause menu when the game over menu is up
• Fixed a bug in which pausing while the foot is stomping will cause it to stomp and walk downward immediately when unpaused
• Resized the feet, boobs, and player to match the concept art for Prototype 1
• Tweaked the numbers in Prototype 1 until everything felt good to play
• Made the feet stomp early if the player is close enough

We're back, baby!

First and most notably, I did a tiiiiiny bit of overhauling. Just a little. I used the concept art as reference for sizes and adjusted the walking speed of the feet accordingly. They're faster now (and consequently, so are the obstacles and ground) due to their smaller size being easier to evade. The gameplay now feels much more action-packed with quite a bit less waiting. It can still use some tweaking, but for now it should be fine to compare with the other two versions, which will be next week's task.

Also, the player character's sprite is super squished now, but that's because the character won't be a square. Well, I mean, maybe he is metaphorically, but... you know what I mean. :P

In other news, there's a game over screen when you get squished, complete with a functional "Retry" button and... less complete with a non-functional "Main Menu" button! Hooray!

Oh, right, and also the feet stomp early now if you're close enough to them. It's not much fun when you can only die at the top of the screen, is it? ;P

Now then, I'mma eat the last Taco Bell of the year! Man, saying "the last" anything really makes it feel bittersweet. :/  Anyhoo, this has been the last progress report of the year on the last day of the year, and the last words you'll ever hear from me... in 2021!
