Service Release
Added 2025-09-26 06:06:42 +0000 UTCThese past two weeks we stopped working on new developments to go back to reported issues in released cores. Although this kind of work may not feel as exciting, it is actually quite rewarding when one issue leads to a better understanding of the original hardware and to a more accurate implementation. That was the case with Lightning Fighters, where a sound issue was solved by implementing an obscure feature of Konami's PCM chip. Furrtek had identified it and documented it in detail. The chip has a way to reverse the playback of a sample. Do you remember when people talked about playing a tape backwards to hear secret messages? It looks like Konami found that amusing too and recorded some stuff reversed. Once I added that feature, the sound issues went away.
I love it when you, the users, identify little things that we hadn't noticed or just thought were normal, like the noise in some sound effects of Vendetta. Sometimes I become a user too. This time, I identified the problem in 1942 while playing it for the sake of it. That game does not get old!
I have also been having conversations with retro FPGA hardware developers about what the next generation will be like. I gave my input about specific requirements of arcade systems and also some feedback on what I have seen some FPGA platforms do right, and what they do wrong. I think we have plenty of fun coming up!

Added a limiter to the ADPCM mix to solve PCM issue in Vendetta.

Fixed PCM sound problems in Lighting Fighters.

Fixed graphical issues if dip flip screen is set to ON in Wonder Planet.

Fixed sound clipping in 1942.

Fixed title screen alignment in Rolling Thunder.
Update Mister Framework. This is update particularly important for people using composite video cables.
Enjoy your weekend! JT
