Development Update
Added 2025-07-18 18:34:27 +0000 UTCNeoGeo Pocket
Thank you for sharing your views in the previous post comments. We decided to spend more time on the NeoGeo Pocket core as a result. The following games are now playable:
Metal Slug (Monochrome version was broken before )
Ogre Battle Gaiden
Last Blade
KoF Battle de Paradise
The bottom garbage line visible on the Analogue Pocket is fixed too. The core credits have been arranged to correctly fit in the NGP small screen size.
Run'n Gun
The upcoming core compatible with Konami's Run'n Gun hardware is close to completion. And we have been able to play a few games with it. It feels very smooth compared to emulation! This is the system with the highest resolution I have worked on so far: 416 visible horizontal pixels. Internally the game runs at 60Hz but if the board is connected to two screens, each one will receive only half the frames. If the single screen mode is selected, the video is updated at the normal 60Hz. This game uses the same PCM chip as X-Men, so it will push a bit the development of that module.

The Run'n Gun original hardware uses a frame buffer. The only system on JTCORES using a frame buffer is Out Run. And this system has a problem on the Analogue Pocket. We are expanding the framebuffer features for Run'n Gun so it should also cover for the CPS3 core. We are trying to get access to more Analogue Pocket devices in order to tune the memory access so it operates consistently for all users.
Summer
The team members are taking days off for summer vacation so development will slow down a bit for the next couple of weeks.
Comments
