STRATO FIGHTER/RAIGA

The final game on the JTGAIDEN core is a famous shooter: RAIGA. I have looked for other Tecmo games of around this time but they do not seem to operate on this hardware. So the core will support Ninja Gaiden, Wild Fang and Raiga.

History

Space shooter game released by Tecmo in 1991. In AD 2135, under attack from an unknown enemy, the Earth's military launched the RAIGA mission and sent two MB-OGs into the enemy colony, entrusting them with our future. Whether an American president was flying the MB-OG is not clear, though. Controls include an eight-way lever, shot and turn buttons. Notice that using the analog stick to control the ship will give you 32 directions on the core.

The turn-around button is your best ally, as enemies lurke from behind. This button is not very common in shooters. The turning around feature can be seen on Section Z and Side Arms (both from CAPCOM, and supported by JT cores). More enemies appear from above, below and behind you than from the front. So the items you choose in different stages can make the difference between victory and another coin.

As each item name is shown under it, you can identify them easily and make sure to pick up only the best ones for the situation.

Weapons

Protection

Side Arms

The best all-round fighting equipment might be the Vertical + Beam Rifle + Homing Missile.

Other Updates

About the Sinden Lightgun, we have it working now but NY Captor does work well when the input comes from the gun. It might be that the input is shakier than when using the mouse and maybe the original software gets confused. We are still looking into it so we decided not to release it this week.

Thanks for your support.

Comments

*(New patreon here.) Does this game needs to be installed manually? Or will it be handled thru "Pocket Sync"? I don't see it in my jtgaiden folder. This one looks fun.

Thank you!

AllSpark_Retro

It seems that there is a problem on the NGPC and it is not working properly. We are investigating it.

JOTEGO

Thank you for pointing this out. It is because of your suggestions that Jotego is able to improve.

JOTEGO

This game RAIGA is in jtgaiden core.

JOTEGO

Playing this game is difficult. I have only made it to the third stages...

JOTEGO

Thank you for pointing these out. We will verify them.

gracias all!

Awesome! Thanks for your constant game updates as always. I always look forward to your releases. Quick bug update: The Simpsons core now exhibits artifacts on the right side of the screen. This happens for all games running the core. All are still playable with the glitch except for Parodius Da, which goes to a black screen now. Sunset Riders also has artifacts on the right side of the screen. For all these games the screen is shifted left, with artifacts on the right. For Sunset Riders those artifacts are actually the screen credits. Some kind of X-axis shift?

First, just want to say thank you for what you do. Secondly, this game is not easy lol

I installed the latest jbeta but I can't see the game RAIGA on my Analogue Pocket. Please help

HI, I have a problem with the NGPC core for Analogue Pocket. After I start a game I have a credit roll overlay on the game. I encountered it with the previous version and now with the latest update. jtbeta.zip file is updated, core is updated. Did I miss a memo, that the development is paused/cancelled or something?

Wow, the quarter stealing tricks in this one are SO Tecmo. "Is this background or ...nope, it's ship..." The tiny bit of deceleration and drift..stripping upgrades AND setting you back... quarter killa!

Two Bards Productions

Great job as usual. One thing, (not a complaint) but on my set up, the analog output of the stratof core is oriented very high vertically. So much so that, even after setting the CRT V offset to -8 and enabling underscan on my monitor, information at top of the frame is still being cut off. Very minor issue, just wanted to mention it.
