The Lake

Hope you all like! In terms of an update on a longer cap I'm currently in the middle of writing 2, so expect at least 1 pretty soon, although I'm moving back to college soon so that might slow me a tad!

“Wow!” Heath took a deep breath as he watched his best friend Chris struggle to the top of a rock. The two friends had been hiking for at least 8 miles, a random hippie who lived outside their dorm told them about the secret lake. They were skeptical at first but as they took in the beauty of the unnaturally blue water.

“Why is the water so blue?” Heath said taking a step towards it. Chris grew a bit uneasy, “Careful bro everything I’ve heard said don’t touch it, there’s some sort of weird chemical mixture in it.” Heath stopped and gave Chris a funny look as he was pulling a snack out of his bag,

“Ok I’m going to feel how cold it is.” Chris zoned out what Heath said as he was so perplexed on finding his protein bar, “Ok good luck.” He said without looking up. Suddenly Chris heard a high pitched scream, he looked up to see a cute girl where Heath was standing,

“Ohmygosh it’s SO cold!” The girl said putting her pink flip flop back on. She was about a foot shorter than Chris, she had on a baby blue tank top and a pair of black denim shorts. She brushed her beautiful blonde hair out of her face as she walked up the shoreline to Chris. Chris stood stunned, not only by the fact that Heath was gone, but also by the girl’s beauty.

“Umhmmm hi” Chris stuttered, “Have you seen a guy with short brown hair, he actually had the same color shirt on as you.” The girl gave him a puzzled look and playfully shoved him,

“Babe! Stop messing around, you know we are the only people here! You said it yourself it’s a secret lake!” She giggled. “Come on feel the water!” She gave Chris another playful shove, although it was weak Chris lost his balance and placed his foot in the water.

“Heather stop it! You’ll be really sad if I die from something in the water!” Chris ran up and hugged Heather from behind. Heather giggled and and squirmed around in Chris’s arms to face him. Chris looked down at his beautiful girlfriend, as they looked into each other’s eyes memories of Heather flooded into his head. As their lips met the last memory of Heath’s life faded out of Heather’s head. Heather pulled back and gave a pure and contagious smile to Chris. As the happy couple watched the sunset on the side of the lake in each other’s arms, Chris sighed, he was in love.
