WIP - Wet Market Vendors Process

So I was in bed the other night and the weirdest things just pop in my head, like—“what if I made studies of Philippine wet market vendors but with anthropomorphic askals/aspins??”

I came across a friend on twitter posting photos of a wet market and I realized the visually interesting stuff they had like knife holsters, fans that swat flies away, fish wrapped in newspaper, the sorts.

What I liked about seeing the process here is that I only had to use one sketch layer before moving to the lines. They’re a tad bit messy, but I hey, I suppose that’s the power of references. I basically didn’t have to make extra sketch layers thinking about the pose, clothes, and props, which was nice for a change.

This was a good exercise, I should do more of this,

I realized from experimenting with different brushes, my sketches tend to focus on shape when i use a unipin-like brush (not much size or opacity pressure controlled). Right now that setting is off! If i wanted to focus on gesture, i turn it opacity control on! Glad my tuts have helped!

I think that’s an awesome exercise! I’m trying to use a similar style with the brush with solid lines. For brush setting do you just turn off the opacity? I can’t get smooth lines they’re all jittery. Love your stuff! Your tutorials on Deviantart helped me a lot !
