SOTTR | Tomb Raider Eclipse Reveal Trailer and Launch Dates!

Now that the Shadow of the Tomb Raider Overhaul mod is almosted completed, I am finally ready to unveil the name: Tomb Raider Eclipse.

Of course I couldn't just reveal the name along with some screenshots, so I put together a trailer that also confirms the launch dates.

Patreon Release: 18th of October.

Public Release on Nexus: 7th of November.

 Lara Croft Redesign

The Tomb Raider herself has been overhauled to resemble a mixture of elements from her classic era, ranging from the games, live action models and Angelina Jolie. This includes 27 new outfits and 11 new hairstyles inspired from Lara's many adventures, along with some custom created ones to give choices for fresh new looks. You will also be able to customise Lara even by choose from a variety of optional make-up styles, skin tones, eye and hair colours as well wearing the iconic sunglasses.

Audio Redesign

To accompany Lara with her new look, her voice will sound more confident by using a deeper voice more in-line with her Classic era. Not only this, but there will be brand new dialogue (performed by me!) throughout the game that brings back Lara's legendary adventurous, sarcastic and witty persona. All audible puzzle hints have been silenced to provide a more Classic feel, and allows players to figure out how to complete puzzles on their own. Over 6000 audio files have been replaced primarily focusing on Lara herself, however there has been music changes in certain parts.

Animation Redesign

Lara can't just look and sound more confident, her movements need to reflect that with over 100 animations having been reworked. There are so many animations to go through (which I will write a complete list of a bit later), but all of the major ones such as walking, running,and climbing are completely new and reintroduces acrobatic moves into Lara's skill set.

New Background

Tomb Raider Eclipse is set in 1998 and follows two significant events. In 1996 when Lara was 21, she was traveling over the Himalayas with her fiancé and two friends to celebrate her completing University when their plane crashed due to an unnatural storm. This caused them to be stranded in a Valley that seemed to defy the laws of nature and unwilling to let anyone trapped leave until the curse that held them there was broken. Lara, using her intelligence and survival instincts, managed to solve the mystery of the Valley - but at the cost of losing everyone, leaving her the sole survivor. In 1997 Lara's new found love for adventure has lead her to join expeditions with her former University Professor Werner Von Croy, who was also a close friend of Lara's father before he passed away. This is where she met Jonah, the teams cook and gained an instant liking to him. The last expedition that they went on lead to uncovering a secret organisation by the name of Trinity who had been following Von Croy's work - but unfortunately this lead to him being killed. Lara, wanting to know why, uses Von Croy's journal to retrace his steps and figure out just want Trinity wants.

This is where Tomb Raider Eclipse starts.

I just want to say a massive thank you to all of my Patreon supporters, Tomb Raider Eclipse ended up being a greater undertaking than I initially planned. What started out as a simple mod to update Lara's look, more tools came out that gave me greater opportunity to be able to edit more. It's been such a pleasure working on this, as I haven't created new animations in such a long time and this was my inspiration to get back into it. I also haven't voice acted in quite a while, so it was really fun stepping back into that scene. Not only that, I have never worked with audio files before so it was great learning a new skill - probably why it's taken as long as it has!
