VPD: The Video Game

Another small preview, this time not moving chronologically

I decided to edit the part about the video game in its own file and render it separately, because the game footage was so long and I didn't want it cluttering up my big project file. So here is that portion!

Also spoiler yes I'm going to try to ape the game credits for the credits at the end of the vid

Comments

omg yes fully second a video about those games. Love that the community is women in their thirties making memes about niche video games from when they were ten.

Kate Thompson

I'm so glad you dove into this game, it's like a bad Nancy Drew point and click and now I'm hoping you stumble onto those and like them enough to make a video about them. There's a whole community around the games and honestly they're wonderful!

Jenna Wren

Ha this game reminds me of the live action point and click X-files video game. Which I did just re-play and it holds up and is awesome. And much like the Vampire Diaries game, there are several moments where you're just clicking around hoping to move the damn plot along because the visual queues just aren't there.

Reina Woods

Jenny, please tell me that in the main video, you mention how the company who created this would later develop all the Nancy Drew mystery games...please I beg of you.

Kim P.

Can we talk about how "Look guys, I really tried to make this a good game" the technical lead's job description is?

Scylus

Wait why doesn’t stefan have a use for money? Clothes and rent cost money. He has a job. And he should rich! Compound interest for 100+ years!!!!

"Number 18" :O

who is counting

Wow! This video is becoming an encyclopedia of all things Vampire Diaries. This game reminds me of how irritating point & click games can be at times. I was once stuck while playing Discworld on the PS1 years ago. At one point in the game you have to find some Camel-Flage (a silly pun for camouflage) to help you fight a dragon. I must have spent about 2 or 3 days clicking every conceivable item/object in every location I could think of, with no results. In the end I looked at an online guide that told me I had to go to the university kitchen and take a spatula, then go to an alleyway in the city where the sooty remains of a victim of the dragon were plastered to a wall. You had to use the spatula to scrape the soot off the wall; the soot being the camouflage...

Jenny does a pretty good Pushing Up Roses impression.

TVD: TVG? NO!! VPD: VDG

Shred Cadmium

But how did you get out of the dagger chamber!!!?!!

David Whitney

This is quickly becoming your Dark Tower series. Can we expect to ring in the next 4 presidential administrations with yet more preview videos? I certainly hope so ...... Hopefully it doesn't end the same way

Joel Keene

Frankly it’s no Beastly: The Video Game for the Nintendo Wii

DichotomicDidact

This is so much more in-depth than I ever expected, I'm probably gonna watch it at least three times. Which might mean I'll spend more time watching this video than I did ever watching the Vampire Diaries. I'm good with that.

Dan Gibbins

But maybe keep a walkthrough handy for that one too; the puzzles can get kind of... odd. That duck still haunts me... e_e It also has some resolution issues, but going through the extra work to get it running in HD is 100% worth it, it's a very fun game despite all its flaws!

Lea Chinelo

I feel like this game is largely to blame for why this video takes so long

IHateBerwald

That death scene had the best comic timing of anything I've ever seen.

Lea Chinelo

I’m eagerly awaiting what is clearly the next 75-plus-minutes long video

Abe Winterscheidt

I am so glad you confirmed the end credits recreation. I didn't see that part until after I watched and was like I HOPE SO.

Dustin Harrell

i forgot about the nancy drew point and click games!! i used to borrow them from the library but could never figure them out before i had to return them

Ophelia

oh my god the company that makes the nancy drew point and click games made this. im so shocked and yet not at all at the exact same time.

Sonny Joon

It's a LONG video

Jenny Nicholson

OMG three previews 👀

Luis

But if Mikhail exploded, how will he return in fantastic beasts 3

Charles Hettrick

If you enjoy point and click adventure games, I really recommend The Longest Journey series! The first game is from the 90s and it’s a great blend of future sci-fi and fantasy. Honestly you could do a whole series on how intriguing, beguiling, and absurd it can get—April, the chosen one.
