Ramble: Video Games

What a pull. I rented bubsy as a kid. Can’t say much but my child brain didnt allow me to get far but I did love the gameplay and visuals.

Robert Romero Jr

I had a copy of bubsy on super Nintendo, I liked it

Breezy Dark

HOLY COW BUBSY

Doll D

OMG I loved Bubsy.

Jill Morris

Omg I totally feel the whole “anxiety as if ur actually in the game” thing. I can’t even play breath of the wild cuz i get too anxious 😂

Make a video on Winx club! <3

Chelsea Counsell

I can actually feel how hesitant you are to chew your popcorn in any way that might be audible.

So far, I think you're the only person I've seen who has commented on that weird kid phenomenon of thinking things are more profound than they really are. I love that phenomenon, and I wish more people talked about it, because I remember that feeling well, and thinking Kingdom Hearts is some sort of complex exploration of the nature of good and evil is etched in my childhood memories forever

Sordahon

You had a personal arcade of consoles, you must have grown up the envy of every teenager in your neighborhood. I'm a PlayStation kid all four generations but had really wanted an N64 to play banjo kazooie and Mario games but my older brother got PS1 cause he was told it was the system of choice for more "mature gamers". You literally have more gamer experience than 90% of gaming channels.

Random comment on an old video to say I've just stumbled upon the Millennial Falcon videos and I`m really enjoying them, thanks :)

Let's Plays might be a good way to pump out content between actual videos. Even if you once a week played like an hour or something and divided it up into twenty-minute vids (or even one hour long) and release them over the course of each week, it might not add that much work to your schedule and it could bring you some extra cash.

John Conklin

I second the Yooka-Laylee game recommendation. I kickstarted it and have been enjoying it this last week or so. Made by the folks that did the Banjo games and DK64 and it's great fun. Happy to send you a gift game on Steam if interested. It's the least I can do given how much joy FiW has brought me.

Sean Hanley

While it seems like you lack the time, equipment and inclination, I definitely would watch you do a letsplay. I think you'd be well suited to narrative games (so called walking-simulators like Gone Home or Firewatch) that don't really have gameplay other than walking around looking at stuff. As a writer you might find it interesting as a way to present a story based on environment. Maybe if you get bored and need a new project someday.

Them mike drops though... Makes you wonder what really happened. Like... he had an argument with Jenny and he totally won, so he dropped her most expensive mike in a triumphant gesture. I don't blame him. If I won an argument against Jenny I would feel like a boss.

Abel Cassius

Oh and, i totally want to meet your dad, he sounds awesome!

Amnesia is good. Takes time though, all the good ones do.

I actually like movie theater popcorn so much that I usually don't even like microwave popcorn, but my dad got this brand of diet popcorn while he was in town and it's strangely addictive. I did send him with the Rogue One bucket to put in the movie room at home so it's out of my hands

Jenny Nicholson

I'm so disappointed to see you eating normal popcorn out of a normal bucket instead of delicious AMC popcorn out of your commemorative Rogue One bucket.

Stephanie Hohn

I would let you watch me play Amnesia, might be a bit far though. Are you someone who gets scared on behalf of the person playing? ;P

KevtheRipper

I'm quite similar. Often enjoy the story over gameplay.

Jordan A

Yooka-Laylee is the unofficial successor to Banjo Kazooie if you're craving a 3D platformer

AndyofCT

Also, a good way to describe Let's Plays would be MST3K but for video games. And it's always better when the game sucks!

Scott McCann

Growing up, I always watched my older brother play games. It was always fun sitting there and hanging out with my big bro.

Scott McCann

When TFA was out Pop Secret had a flavor called First Order Butter. It was just normal butter but I guess you feel like a fascist while you eat it or something

Jenny Nicholson

I did, but not frequently enough to ever understand what was going on. Mainly it was just looking at pretty pictures of sonic. I do remember liking and often rereading the Battle Royale issue with all the Knuckles Chaotix

Jenny Nicholson

I actually didn't play (or watch) many RPGs. I think they can be a bit slow to watch for the reason that they aren't as gameplay-heavy. Other than Mario RPG, and much later a good chunk of Tales of Symphonia. I think that was a PS1 game? Also the Hamtaro GBA games were actual masterpieces.

Jenny Nicholson

Sonic Adventure 2! I absolutely loved that game as a kid, played it on the Gamecube. You can actually download it on the Xbox store now. Such a nostalgia trip

Is there Star Wars popcorn?

Xxxxx Xxxxx

I enjoy a Let's Play if the players are entertaining. Specifically, the hosts of the Weekly Planet, who are never not entertaining

matt

Congrats on the move! So excited to see you on Screen Junkies! As a kid I was into the Sonic fandom. Did you ever read the Sonic comics (see avatar)?

Derek Horkel

It's interesting that you say you liked video games more for the story and characters, yet there is no mention of RPGs. They usually required little to no "gameplay" skills, but focused more on planning and character building. The late 90s were the golden age and you had all the right consoles for the greatest classics, back when storytelling, good characters and a memorable soundtrack were more important than fancy graphics and explosions.

Abel Cassius

...And that, was a very long comment...

Garret Watts

Another great ramble! Congrats on the new place! Awesome to hear a bit more on the Screen Junkies partnership, and awesome news about Star Wars Celebration! Oh and hey, you should give Doctor Who a shot sometime. Kinda like a lot of fandoms, it's not for everyone, but it's worth trying out a few episodes or a season (which are pretty short, usually 11-13 episodes. P.S. Awesome BB-8 lamp, that thing is the coolest!

Garret Watts

Ok, popcorn is not pizza, but close enough ;)

Duszy

I get the liking to watch people play games, although I game pretty regularly, there is something really fun about watching people play video games in person. I feel the same way about D&D, I like watching people play it, not so much doing it. I've seen Equestria Girls, but my niece has grown out of it and now just wants to study rocks and birds, so I stopped watching. Congrats on the new place!
