At the time the relationship was believed to be professional due to a joint project but it went much deeper than that. When Riva's methods for breeding mortals became too callous and extreme for Myanna, a rift began to form. Soon, the two disagreed on nearly everything and as secrets of Riva's began to come to light, Myanna could no longer stand the woman and left.
Today the two feud bitterly, with Riva functioning as a constant antagonist to Myanna, taking every opportunity to throw obstacles in her way or steal from her. Riva has been formally punished by the Primogen, though not before airing some of Khatima's dirty laundry for everyone. Even so, it seems doubtful that Riva will have learned her lesson for long.
