[#185] LEPRECHAUNTOLOGY, Part One: Faeries, the Jinn of Ireland

Dimitri and Khalid combine their two Irish halves and finally manage to release a timely St. Patty's Day-themed episode about - what else - those world-famous Fenian cryptids known as fae folk, wee ones, little people, gentry, etc. Folks, we gotta talk about the faeries.

Topics include: the incredibly strong parallels between faeries and jinn, a look into the myth and reality of Saint Patrick, Faery Hunter, engaging in bloody magickal warfare with druid priests, varied Irish origin stories for the fae folk, the Book of Kells and Book of Armagh, the leprechaun in popular culture, the Crighton, Alabama leprechaun sighting, and more.

There are some linguistic similarities between Celtic languages and Semitic/Afro-asiatic languages, here's a paper about the similarity between the Afro-Asiatic and Celtic language families generally: https://rebus.us.edu.pl/bitstream/20.500.12128/21479/1/Kida_Hamito_Semitic_features.pdf , and a paper on the similarities between Scottish Gaelic and Arabic specifically: https://gupea.ub.gu.se/handle/2077/78204

There's also like, mentions of communities of north african people taken as war booty who just happen to be living in their own villages on the emerald isle far back in history and other like, treasures and even some stuff you can genetic test to be like 'yeah these Irish people sure did get on boats somehow', maybe the records of this where better before the British came and torched the place, maybe the records are still waiting to be translated, or maybe we'll just never truly know.

The Irish/North-African/Levantine connections are a bit mad, the genetics aren't the right place to look as you say Khalid but there's too much whispering to totally debunk connections, see how much the ottamans donated for Famine relief or the presence of mentions of Libya and North Africa in the ancient annals, the Coptic Christian texts popping up in Ireland. Wish I could build a time-machine.

My family has a similar story about coal country. Some great uncle died and our family still owed money to the company store so they just left his body on the front porch with a note to send the next oldest male to work. Most of the women in my grandmas generation got trades and educations for just the reason you discussed. Some got brewery jobs.
