It’s a Skyrim setting, I’ve spent around 250 hours making the lore, learning how to DM, and making roll 20 maps enemies and characters, about to play with my 6 groomsmen who are all beginners only did a 1v1 session 0 with me to do their origin, WISH ME LUCK!

12:35 - OMFG I just noticed, Vex says Viridian during her magic word guesses, OMG that is such a sneaky reference to put into a Keyleth episode. Holy crap...

2025-07-13 18:00:14 +0000 UTCMy go to is to have a roll that is needed happen if they fail, but some aspects go wrong. Like they successfully unlock the door, but trigger an alarm system on a fail

2025-07-13 14:35:45 +0000 UTCMy dm advice. If you NEED to progress a plot point don't put it behind a roll. Not even an easy roll, setting a DC 10 Investigation and watching all your players roll terribly can be frustrating. I know that sounds obvious but it can be very tempting to have your players roll for everything, but when you do that it means they can fail at doing anything. Good luck and have fun!

2025-07-13 13:18:38 +0000 UTCTo sum up my first DM experience, this quote from Captain Cold should relate: "Make the plan, execute the plan, expect the plan to go off the rails, throw away the plan.” Dont be too hard on yourself and remember as long as everyone’s having fun, thats what matters. Good Luck.
