I want to warn you guys about episode 116 of the dub. They change the dialogue and unlike in solo leveling it very much hurts the scene and takes a lot of the emotional punch out of the scene.

2025-06-20 09:26:00 +0000 UTCthats what i was saying, kinda sad but should have expected it cuz of showing 3 episodes last week instead of the usual 2

2025-06-19 19:25:56 +0000 UTCThe Uvogin fights are two of the best episodes in the entire show in my opinion. They went all out with animation and voice acting. I hate Uvo but every time he dies I get a little sad we don’t get more insane fights with him

2025-06-19 14:47:39 +0000 UTCAlthough someone belongs to the conjuror type that doesn't necessarily mean they can conjure any item they wish. The way I understood it was that Kurapika just is able to conjure chains because that's what he thought he needed to win against the troupe, maybe if he trained in shovels instead of chains. Then again with Emperor Time being so broken I can see why one would assume that

2025-06-19 10:56:37 +0000 UTCI love how differant this anime feels to most for me personally. The first anime that usually averted my expectations with sheer violence and "F you" abilities that have rules. (In a Kenny way of thinking, the conditional nen powers feel like Quirks with their limitations and self infliction if used haphazardly) aha 😄

2025-06-15 20:28:28 +0000 UTCSo this is the first proper no-holds-barred Nen fight we get in the story, and i always enjoy how tactical the fights are rather than pulling some power of friendship bs like some other shows. And they only get more insane from here. Its a ways off, but Feitan's fight is gonna be nuts

2025-06-15 02:32:54 +0000 UTCumm its been explained prty well You havent seen everything each category can actually do But if u match the category and work hard enough nen can potentially do anything. But its a very cost heavy power system. Transmuters can turn their aura into ANYTHING if they understand what they want to make. You could do gasoline or soap if u want. The closer you get to specialist the more magical ur powers are as well. However once u specialize in a particular type of nen it becomes hard to branch out. youll be floored by powers later though, especially if you get into the manga, they get really complicated.

2025-06-15 02:32:40 +0000 UTCHave enough confidence in yourself as Kurapika has to bring a shovel to a fight (it is confirmed not conjured, and also you can only conjure things that you have trained with for a long time, you can't just conjure whatever)

2025-06-15 01:08:48 +0000 UTCMy favorite quote from Brooklyn 99 fits here. “Cool motive. Still a murder”

2025-06-15 00:23:25 +0000 UTCOkay, as someone who is new to Hunter x Hunter the way the nen powers work seem really wild. Like, some of them seem pretty straightforward and basic, and then there are some that are just SO out there, like the vacuum cleaner with teeth is freaking insane to me, but also the shadow beast that can just shrink stuff, Owl, like how does nen do that? Then again, Nen can be used to transport people into a video game world according to the Greed Island clues Gon found, so I guess it can do basically anything and everything, I am having a hard time understanding the limits of nen and I think there may be none. Maybe it is just do whatever and if you believe it hard enough it will work. They feel a bit like D&D sorcerors. Charisma casters in general. Kurapike with her vows seems a bit like Paladin oaths, swearing a big one to gain big powers, but having to keep to said oath or you become an oathbreaker and lose your powers.

2025-06-14 20:36:22 +0000 UTCMy read on the whole ‘kill a member become a member’ thing is that it needs to be an official challenge. I don’t think they’d let Kurapika in to be real

2025-06-14 18:39:29 +0000 UTCUvo and Gon are the two most ride or die characters in this show- so it sucks they never get to meet…

Limini
2025-06-14 17:34:09 +0000 UTCKurapika going to any lengths to kill the Troupe, even threatening Melody if she revealed his past, definitely shows that he's not totally in the right state of mind. He is losing himself. He has every reason to want revenge, and I get that. But as Jake Peralta said in Brooklyn Nine-Nine: “Cool motive. Still murder.”

2025-06-14 17:31:13 +0000 UTCKurapika is so cunty
Limini
2025-06-14 17:18:50 +0000 UTCI think the point of the question about Kurapika’s revenge was how Kurapika feels carrying it out, not if it’s the ‘right’ thing to do. Kurapika says himself that hurting others (even someone who deserves it) “makes him sick.” If committing such acts makes him feel this way, then it’s possible Kurapika could fall into deeper sorrow over time, despite fulfilling his goal. He doesn’t seem happy or satisfied after killing Uvo, just empty. That’s just my opinion though 🤷♀️

2025-06-14 17:05:51 +0000 UTCUvo and the troupe accept the risk of death with what they do, the troupe slaughtered the kurta clan(alongside who knows who else) for their eyes why wouldn't the sole Survivor seek vengeance for what happened?

2025-06-14 17:02:14 +0000 UTCI stand by what I said, this episode is by far one of my favorites. BUT!!! Addressing the elephant in the room, thank you @Kenny for pronouncing Uvogin! *Claps*

2025-06-14 17:00:45 +0000 UTCYeah they kind of blindside you with the tanned Killua and Gon. Those two episodes originally aired the first and second week of September; the same weeks that Japanese schools resume after a month of summer vacation, where real-life kids watching the show would be seeing their real-life classmates come back to school with tans.

2025-06-14 16:30:13 +0000 UTCAs much as Uvogin deserved punishment for his crimes, I always find this episode's end incredibly sad. Kurapika who hates violence, and Uvogin who is so loyal to the Troupe who would face death before selling them out.

2025-06-14 16:12:37 +0000 UTCNo one ever said conjured chains would be brittle, just that conjuring an unbreakable one is impossible which is true unless you're Kurapika
Cube Pylum
2025-06-14 15:53:47 +0000 UTCWhen the trainer says it’s impossible to conjure an unbreakable chain he’s right. The only reason why kurapika’s chains are so powerful is because he put rules on them. So he did not conjure an unbreakable chain, he conjured a chain and put rules on them to make them “unbreakable”. When they are explaining the rules about nen please don’t get into the mindset like “that’s not true because so and so did it” because nen only gets more advanced and complicated throughout the show and these rules do apply. Having that mindset will only confuse you the more you go into the show.
Franina
2025-06-14 15:49:30 +0000 UTCAt this point in the story you're just like "Oh so Nen can do anything..." and then the rest of the series happens and you realize how little that idea means lol
J Valentine
2025-06-14 15:25:02 +0000 UTCyeah, its a little more obvious in the manga as there is a panel of him bringing the shovel to the car, but Kurapika really just was that confident.
