I was absolutely FLABBERGASTED to find out Tokoyami and Armin had the same VA! She does such a fantastic job!

2023-10-16 08:33:08 +0000 UTCIf the anime did the first part of season 6 a little better in terms of adapting it season 6 would be my favorite without a doubt. The 2nd half of season 6 (no spoilers) is my favorite arc of the series

2023-09-01 02:08:44 +0000 UTCThe Tokoyami/Armin VA thing is always so funny. I remember thinking her voice was super familiar when watching MHA, looking it up, and then yelling for a couple of minutes. Their range is absolutely BONKERS. SUCH a talented actress, (just an fyi, they came out as trans a few months back, and use she/they pronouns!)

2023-08-06 08:38:52 +0000 UTCI think unless all your rescues are televised, like All Might's tend to be, most heroes have the advantage of surprise with their quirks. Recall again the obvious benefit to Tsu being tossed into a water area because their opponents did not know their powers and remained cautious. Once you go all out on a really well televised event like this, every villain around can just watch TV or be in the audience and see what you can do and make notes about how your opponents end up neutralising you, or how long you can last. It seems a weird idea to me, honestly and a great way to display exactly the power set of your most powerful newcomers.

2023-08-05 18:49:00 +0000 UTCThe pro athletes comparison is dead on. It's the one i always use to explain heroes in MHA. The idea that most people have "powers" makes people think well everyone is a hero then right? That's like saying everyone can run and jump so everyone can be a pro athlete. No, you have to be some combination of born with certain physical traits and train very hard to nature them. Just like heroes in their world.

2023-08-05 18:20:56 +0000 UTCAnother point to consider: Do you really want your hero's hesitating to rescue someone because it would require them to expose something about their quirk? This showcase system gets all the obvious aspects of the quirk into the public so the hero doesn't have to make those decisions in the field. Sure there still may be some secrets, but they'd be secrets that aren't obvious while using the quirk. Besides, any potential villian would have access to the knowledge the first time the hero publicly saved someone anyway so there is very little merit to keeping it hidden to begin with.

2023-08-05 16:48:55 +0000 UTCTo add to what Jawrool said, most heroes (and hopefully most hero course students) would generally take measures to negate or hide their weaknesses. A villain could still study heroes closely to discover those weaknesses (such as Aizawa's hair or Thirteen's little amount of battle experience), but most heroes would know about their own weaknesses and done their best to cover for them.

2023-08-05 15:50:05 +0000 UTCThe sports festival is so great and there’s so many similarities to the chunin exams in Naruto that I wish Montana had seen that as a reference going in to this

2023-08-05 14:58:42 +0000 UTCYeah I hear you but heroes also have a duty to project strength. By showcasing their powers in public forums, they show villains they do not care if they watch. Keeps the public at ease knowing there are so many powerful new heroes on the horizon. The benefits outweigh the drawbacks for the society they live in.

2023-08-05 14:52:05 +0000 UTCAnother excellent episode! Can't wait for the sports festival shenanigans! Also, as an aside, it seems like a really weird thing to do to literally showcase upcoming pro heroes' strengths and weaknesses (since someone will have to get around them if it's adversarial) to the public because surely villains are also watching for this very reason and will be taking notes.
